Recoil Spring Selection with RDS
« on: March 27, 2021, 10:24:10 PM »
Wondering about the relationship between the mass of the slide, recoil spring weight, and magazine springs. Specifically, how that equation needs to change when you add the weight of a red dot sight to your CZ. Do you go with a stronger recoil spring, or a weaker one? And secondly, do you need +5%, +10% magazine springs to feed faster? Enlighten me please.

Keep the magazine springs the same but use lighter recoil springs unless the slide had been significantly lightened using lightening cuts to offset the added weight of the red dot.

Experiment with different weights and see what works best with your gun and choice of ammo.

I have the Holosun 507k on my pistol (P10-C) and haven't changed any springs and it functions fine.  I guess it's light enough that it hasn't slowed things down enough to cause a problem.
