Holster for Shadow 2 with Eemann-Tech slide stop/thumb rest
« on: April 17, 2021, 07:16:34 AM »
Loving my Eemann-Tech slide release/thumb rest, but it won't fit in my blade tech holster. Does not look like it could modified to accept it since I would need to cut into the hinge to make room for it. Just wondering if anyone knows of a holster option that may work for this setup.

It’s a novelty that won’t be cost effective for anyone to make a holster for. You can probably try remolding a standard Kydex holster with some heat to fit it — but I highly doubt anyone is going to produce a stock holster to fit it.

At least no one has so far...
CZ SP01 Tactical, P-07 w/Kadet Kit, CZ 97BD, P-01 Omega
Sig P220, 226, 227, 228, 365XL, M400 TREAD
Ruger SR1911, .308 GSR, 7.62x39 American Ranch
Beretta M9, 92G, PX4 Storm (9mm/.45), CX4 Storm (92)
Saiga AK-47, S12 shotgun
Keltec P17, P32, SU-22, RDB 17
S&W M&P 9/9C
Eternal Arms Bullpup 12 ga

Just buy one of the race holsters like DAA Racer X, Racemaster or Cr speed. Any kydex you’ll use will need to be dremeled or custom made.

You can ask Red Hill Tactical if they can make you one since they make one for the TSO (either with stock thumb rest or nitro fin).

Can you use those in USPSA and IDPA production class?

Yeah, thanks. I should have been more clear. I don't expect to find one off the shelf. Looking for suggestions on something I can modify. The belt loop would have to be out of the way.

No. You can’t use a race holster in production. You can use your gun and a race holster in Limited though you’ll be disadvantage shooting minor in scoring against major PF.

So here's a thought on holsters.

The Tactical Sport Orange has a thumb rest bolted to the frame ahead of the slide stop.
I wonder if a holster for that gun would work on a Shadow 2 with the Eemann Tech thumb rest stop?

It won’t work. I have both guns and holsters.  The shadow 2 won’t even slide into the holster.

I looked for ever for one.  Red hill tactical no longer makes them I already tried.  Only option is taking one and dremeling it.

Or use a heat gun to soften the Keydex and reshaped it using the gun.

Update!!!   Red hill tactical is again offering holsters fit for the eemann tech slide stop thumb rests.   They currently offer one for the Shadow 1/2’s.  Also the stock TSO thumb rests.

Another option that is currently acceptable (according to DNROI) is to make a shroud for your race holster.  I saw it while at nationals and questioned the legality.  I asked Troy and he said they were fine.  The shroud just needs to cover up to 1/2 inch from the ejection port.  You'll have to figure out how to mount the shroud to the race holster.  Or you could look at the Ghost holsters:  https://ghostholsterdirect.com/product/hydra-p-plus/

I'm contemplating making one for my Accu2 used in Carry Optics.

Cheers,
Toby
