Berger's Know Your Czechoslovakian Pistols says that the Vz 50 serial numbers started with 650001 and were made in Strakonice.
Vz is short for Vzor or model in Czech.
I suspect that your father has a different and earlier model and that the "50" that may be stamped on the pistol is the year produced and NOT the model number--a common mistake that I've seen on gun auction sites.
Tell us more about the pistol...other words, markings, caliber or even post a photo.
