Powder Valley- No powder?
« on: April 19, 2021, 10:05:44 AM »
I went onto the Powder Valley website yesterday and could not find any Hodgdon Powder.  Is it that bad out there?

I've got a buddy that reloads and he can't find pistol primers either. With the ammo shortage lasting this long, it's more than likely that more people are reloading now as well, so that may be what's going on.

Actually the majority of components like primers are going to production of factory ammo and it's all they can do to keep up and THIS is why those of us who reload are having trouble finding things like powder and primers. Those who decided to get into reloading after the plandemic and ammo shortage started are simply hosed as they had no stock of any components to start with and not only can supplies not be found there are long wait times now for many loading machines and other equipment.

Actually they do have powder. Not every day, but it comes up early in the morning. Anywhere between 2:30 and 4:30 am cst. Gone within an hour. Hodgdon site the same way. I've picked up three powders I really needed. Good luck.

Agree.  You will not see a lot of reloading components on the market until the ammo supply stabilizes.  We are sadly just in for a wait.

As Wobbly said - yup.    I've been reloading since late 2015.  Then it was hard, but not impossible to find things.  I gradually started to load other calibers.  Last November my son bought a 45 colt - ordered dies for it.  Still waiting on them.

I believe the ammo shortage may be starting to abate. I was at a gun show this weekend and usual ammo vendors were well stocked this time. There were cases piled everywhere!  Unfortunately, the prices were still high with 9mm averaging $800/1000 but the supply was there. People were buying it, tho.

In my opinion, now that the Remington ammo plant is running again, that will help the situation, but not overnight.  Give things 6 months to a year and things could be better.  I’m starting to see more hornady, nosler and Sierra rifle bullets at the sights, and to me that’s a good sign, either that or no one has primers to be able to load more rifle rounds so there are more bullets than primers creating a supply of rifle bullets.
