Beretta 76
« on: April 19, 2021, 05:18:22 PM »
While I was at the LGS picking up the HK shotgun and the Hämmerli 212, I spotted this little vintage Beretta 76. In Switzerland the permit to buy guns allows up to 3 weapons provided they come from the same seller on the same day. There is no limitation on the number of permits though. That leads to some compulsive buying to amortise the permit by filling up the third line. This is one classic example at $ 390.-

I also took it to the range but a buddy forgot that it was a 22 Long rifle day only and had brought a 9 mm, so I lent it to him. I just tried a couple of magazines on the gong at the end of the session.

cool.

i love those small pocket pistols....  iirc those 76 came in other variants....

if you have a chance to buy/try a M87 go for it.  they are spendy, but you dont see them overhear that much and when you do, they command a nice price.

I also have an 87 target and I believe that, like many modern Berettas, the frame is lightweight alloy, not steel. Still a very good gun imo.

cool again... i wanted to get one of them but found out they were single action?.  i guess for a target pisol its makes sense.

but i got the cheetah? with the shorter barrel.  I like it since its been 100% reliable and fun to shoot.  Yes they are allow, but for the most part, the guns will outlive me.

Knew a great gunsmith and bullseye shooter Ed Masaki (sadly has passed) used one.  He was shooting 2650 out of 2700 at every match.  His only complaint was the trigger needed some adjustment for bullseye work.

Good luck.

Sharing similar rakish lines on the back end and in a smaller frame as the 76... steel frame 70s in .22LR. Fun pistols to shoot.

Same LGS had another one, good condition, no box or papers, but with the nice wooden grip for $ 360. Took it home and swapped grips.

The Beretta 76 is very accurate, trigger is super light at 0.8 kgs (1.76 lbs)

25 m

50 m (now that must have involved some luck, I don’t shoot like that often at this distance)
