Received my first CZ-75 two days ago.
« on: May 12, 2021, 08:48:24 PM »
The P-01 is a rare item to find, at least here in the East Valley of Phoenix, especially with the massive uptick in firearm sales ongoing for quite some time.

Finally gave up waiting and ordered a P-01, from Os*ge County Guns. My Mesa, AZ, FFL received it just two days ago and I took possession of it the same day after the 4473 transfer paperwork was completed. Been shooting striker-fired pistols so long I wanted a change... a "return" to a reliable, hammer-fired, pistol.

Very impressed with the fit and finish of this pistol, it's design, and ergonomics. Digital scale revealed a DA trigger pull of 9.06# (average of 10 pulls) and a SA trigger pull of 3.44# (again, average of 10 pulls). Quite a bit of gritty stacking though.

I had already ordered three additional 15 round magazines from a major retailer - who shipped 16 round magazines by mistake, which I decided to keep anyway, leaving a magazine-pistol frame gap.

CZ Cu*t*m is about a 15 minute drive from my home, so I drove over and picked up three SP-01 magazine base plates. First time ever visiting this shop. It has a very small client reception/showcase area when compared to a local gun shop, and a larger stockroom and work area. Had the opportunity to meet Stuart and Angus, both very friendly and outgoing types. Talked with Stuart about a trigger job to smooth out my new P-01. He allowed me to dry fire a P-01 that had the CZ Cu*t*m trigger job. The difference was really remarkable... even stunning.

I haven't yet had the time to fire my new P-01. I'll run 500-750 rounds of various ammo types though it this weekend to check for function/reliability issues, accuracy, ammunition preferences (if any), that sort of thing. I expect my P-01 will handle whatever I feed it. If it suddenly experiences failures after CZ Cu*t*m work, then I know it's changes were responsible. I suspect this to be very unlikely though.

I doubt my new P-01 will supplant my EDC P365 for summer time carry in the 105-115+ degree heat here in the Phoenix area. After 2,650 rounds fired through it, with a fairly smooth 3.5# pull, it has never had any failure of any type, including firing dirty, 40 year old, Egyptian army 9mm surplus ammo fed as a "torture test".

But, as I said, I was due for a change... a larger firearm, but not full-size, than the P365... and a return to a de-cocker, hammer fired, pistol.

Long-time lurker... gained a lot of info here, but blew through the Terms of Service agreement, and so that's why you saw "*" edits, in case I was violating the "rules".

Yes, you're breaking the rules.

You might get "shunned" if you don't post pictures.  Everyone like to see pictures of new/nice/well used/old CZs.

This is the Original CZ Forum, pictures, pictures, pictures, range reports, reports on any modifications you might do (if have any done, or do them yourself).

Joking about being shunned.

Not joking about pictures.

Good luck with the P01.   Oh, shoot it.  You might find it feels so good in your hand and shoots so good you won't mind the change in size/weight.

I carry a P07 concealed just about everywhere I go.  I have carried a P01 (several years ago) but the darn P07 shoots so good I went back to it.
I stopped carrying the SIG 556R.  SIG changed models and couple/three times and stopped supporting it with parts.  So, I stopped supporting SIG.  Back to the tried/true AR15 Carbine.

No need to edit things. Stuart from CZ Custom is a member here as is David from Cajun Gun Works. Many members use their products and services regularly.

I routinely send new CZ pistols to stuart and co. For a little trigger love. Three went to them before I ever shot them. I’m spoiled by the work that they do. I have a few that are going to them just to have them on par with my favorites.  I trust that CZC will give a good result every time.

At this early point in my CZ75 P-01 ownership, all I've done is the installation of Truglow TFX sights, and replaced the OEM grips with flatter, less "sticky" grips... red/black in color.

Bought an IWB holster from BraDeC, and was surprised at it's quality, comfort, and retention. Excellent. This is "Tulster" level IWB holster quality. Also bought an R&R Holster OWB holster... which is simply terrible. Virtually zero weapon retention, and retention is non-adjustable. It has to be returned.

Put a total of 500 rounds of ball ammo, including 150 rounds of various JHP, through my P-01 out in the desert on steel targets. No failure of any kind. Accurate after the sight install... and loosened up a bit, but haven't checked the Lyman trigger pull scale. Better, but still not what I want.

My P-01 will be a carry gun, so I'm obviously not looking for a competition type trigger pull... but the grittiness in the DA pull has to go, and the SA trigger pull has to smoothed somewhat out as well.

Confident CZ Custom will get the job done.

You are in good hands with CZ Custom.  They have my Shadow 2 now and will be getting a P-01 frame and a 40 S&W Compact upper when the shadow 2 returns.  Shadow 2 will become my dominant action sports pistol and the Frankenstein P-06 I hope to make my EDC.

Best of luck to you on your project.
