Ohio Sanctuary
« on: April 23, 2021, 11:08:52 PM »
First off I don't if this is a legal post or not so, I am going to risk it.  Ohio is in the process of working up legislation to make Ohio a 2A Sanctuary state.  If you live in Ohio and either want it passed or want it not passed (does that work?)  contact the appropriate people for you, some of which could include politicians. I am not proposing any particular bias one way or the other via the political ramifications of said bill (HB 62).

Is this likely to pass?

Remember the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is not a State issue.  Though this legislation shows that any legitimate attempt to change the Constitution will fail (2/3 of the states legislatures have to ratify, which is why ERA did not pass). These initiatives are interesting but at the actually of little value.  If the federal government decides that the second amendment is no longer valid and comes to take your legally owned firearms, as both Hitler and Stalin did, the states have no authority to interfere.

The grim reality is that the administration and most of the media are promoting Fascist ideology as liberal.  History already records the results.  Even Gandhi condemned the British Empire for suppression of firearms ownership.

We must all stand ready to fight where it counts most.  The ballot box.

Yeah how's that been working out lately? Whether or not states can interfere with the feds remains to be seen. The libtards more than anyone else pick and choose which laws to enforce and which to ignore just look at the carnage across the country over the past year and hardly anyone gets prosecuted for anything. We'll see if the feds can pass gun legislation and then we'll see if these states stand behind the laws they pass.
I'm in Ohio and I've already called my reps in support of this bill.

If not there then the courts are the last resort.  We can not directly affect the courts, but we can the politicians.  The entire House of Representatives is up for reelection in 2022, and they have a majority of less than 10.

Yeah and the dems are doing their level best to import an entirely new electorate into this country. We may stave that off for a cycle or two maybe even 3 but at some point they may have their insurmountable majority. The simple question is will we be willing to handle that as the founding fathers did or will we simply bend over? Simple fact is the American animal is not what it once was and is likely to go extinct if it does not pull it's head out of the sand real soon.

Our biggest issue is that we look like throw backs to a different era, and are no longer relevant to modern times.  The public does not know for every bad event with a firearm there are four or five where use of a weapon, sometimes just its presence stops a violent act by a criminal.  As long as the public only sees mentally ill and drug crazed criminals using firearms in the most heinous ways we will be on the bad end of this stick.  NRA did not do enough to make this point and we are living the result.  There have been multiple opportunities where conservatives have held both houses and the executive office and the legislation has not been passed, placing our rights at risk.  Far too much money and effort has been spent for the results we have.

Spare me this crap I've heard it over the decades and it's the same mantra now as it was when I was a kid in the 70's. Blaming everyone but OURSELVES for not stepping up and making it right. Oh it's the NRA, Oh it's the Republicans, Oh  why doesn't someone step in and stop this? Yeah well guess what it's time for the men in this country if there are any left that actually know what gender they are to step in and do something. WE HAVE TO STOP IT AND NO ONE ELSE. FACT.

We are, in theory, not alone. And yet we are. Prepare all you want; wars are not won by individuals.

So, who are you in this little game?

Who am I? All I can say is if push comes to shove I won't go out on my knees I'll be standing straight and tall eyes wide open. I hope there are others who still feel the same. We all know how this country came to be and history will repeat itself in one form or another.

My thoughts precisely. And yet, it seems, the leaders are nowhere to be found.

Anyway, April 19th has yet to arrive. Still, it seems so near, and we are not, in any way, prepared.

Well that certainly went well!  Apparently the majority (at least) don't seem to understand that yes, rationalizing, dis-crediting, and most importantly not doing anything is easy.  I would hope that that crowd also understands what happens when people continue to sit on the sofas and eat popcorn. That is precisely how we got to where we are today - the anti-gun crowd wins.
Might it be useful to try an experiment?  Get involved and see what could happen if the anti-gunners met with some resistance?  If nothing changes you have lost nothing and if something changes (for the better) we ALL win.
Fire away!  Depending on the order you read these I am also posting a link to yet another attempt by the ATF to screw things up.
