A good day with the AR-15 and the P-10F
« on: May 13, 2021, 02:37:37 PM »
Finally got to the range again after installing the correct Geissele rifle length buffer spring in the AR-15.  Rifle feels good and operates perfectly now.  Operational check only today, but did try some rapid fire at 100 yards with no problems and maintained 5 shot groups less than 4".

I built a new pistol rest out of scrap 2x4's and tried it this morning with the P-10S and P-10F.  Works OK but I need to change the cover material to something will a little more traction, will try that then show the results and a photo early next week.  Nothing spectacular to show for the P-10S today, but it shot just fine, as always.

I got out the P-10F and shot 15 rounds through it at the target below at 100 yards, but I used only the IMI 115 JHP ammo instead of the Atlanta Arms 115 JHP match ammo.  The IMI ammo is pretty high up on my list of excellent ammo for a full size 9mm CZ pistol.  There are 10 hits in a 4-1/2" group out of the 15 in the photo below.  That's pretty good for combat ammo.  I'm saving the Atlanta Arms ammo for the P-10S, as the IMI does not shoot well in the P-10S 3.5" barrel.

I shot the MTR at 100 yards with the tuner on Tuesday, but I have some more work to do on the tuner tuning, maybe next week.  As for this week, the P-10F results are all I needed to declare this a good week for me.

Very nice sir - you never struck me as an AR kind of guy, but that is very cool.

I needed to test some audio equipment today, so I made a short video explaining a little more detail about the P-10F target above.

I didn't set up a target cam for video during the range session, so I am not sure which hole goes with which group, but ten shots out of 15 in a 4-1/2" group is OK with me.  Plus a few "less than perfect execution" shots, of course.  But the surprising thing about this result was that I did it shooting the IMI 115 JHP ammo instead of the always perfect Atlanta Arms match ammo.  That was the pleasant surprise for the day.

And, Armoredman, I am not really an AR kind of guy.  It is part of my education, that's all.  I don't even like shooting it...if there are any pistols around.

Great. The group is a very nice group at 25 m. If you are shooting 4.5" group at 100m, you probably will shoot 1" group at 25 m.

Yep, I only shoot them at 25 to sight them in if I have had the sight off, but yes, one hole.  I have shot them at 50 when I didn't have access to the 100 yard range.  The P-09, P-10F, 75B with CGW 10x bushing, and the 97B are all good for 1.5" or less from a rest with a red dot.  I think I shot one 1.1" group with the 75B but they are all good out to 100.  Shooter eyesight and trigger control limits the group size.  The guns are perfect.
