CZ P-09C (another grip chop thread)
« on: May 16, 2021, 03:33:58 PM »
Thanks to inspiration from P. Garber Fm and miller_man I decided that I really wanted to do a grip chop and texture job on a P-09.  I recently did a grip chop and texture on a Glock 17 and loved it, so I picked up another P-09, immediately disassembled it, sent the slide off to Jagerwerks to get milled for an RMR and top window cut to show off the TiN coated Primary Machine barrel, and then took the frame over to my band saw.  It actually turned out better than I expected, and I have a feeling I'll be carrying this gun more often than any of my P-07s, Glock 19s, or compact 2011s! I've got the upper from one of my competition P-09s with an SRO on it for now so that I can start carrying it and using it at USPSA matches. By the way... I am designating mine as a "P-09C". ;D

Looks good. Any plans for a spacer to run the original length mags on there?

No plans by me. I modify the follower to allow an extra round in a 17-round P-07 mag (still locks the slide back when empty), so I am okay with 18+1 capacity with the shorter grip. I also have about nine P-07 mags.

Turned out great I think. Good work. The one thing I wish the P07 and P09 models had it small cut outs on both sides of the grip for mag extraction if needed. Back when I ran the P320 I attended a Sig Academy class and had a double feed in my P320 Compact. The stock cut outs on the P320 grip module made it super easy to rip the mag out, correct the malfunction and get back to firing. The M&P M2.0 even has little indentions on each side of the grip for this. I thought about cutting my P07/P09 grips nyself, but it freaks me out thinking about screwing up.

That should be easy enough to do.  The extended +2 base pads definitely give you more to grab onto without grip cutouts.
