New P10C, first impressions
« on: May 21, 2021, 06:54:33 PM »
I've rented P10C's and P10F's (and other CZ offerings) at ranges before and I must say that for a few years I've been totally convinced that CZ has nailed the ergonomics on both their polymer frame handguns and metal frame handguns.

Not sure why it's taken so long but I finally lucked into a NIB P10C for a cool $450. I got to fidget with it on the way home and the only thing I could think of was "How quickly can I sell my Glock 19 and Glock 45?"

I really don't ooh and ahh over polymer framed handguns. But I sure am glad that I finally have a rugged, modern polymer frame handgun that I shoot well.

Everyone's different, but my hands like to shoot the P10C better than a VP9, PPQ, M&P, and especially better than a Glock.

Can't wait to get the slide milled and move my RMR over to the P10C.

I shoot the P10 better too. I only have the P10 c & s, and 3 Sig P320s. Both guns fit me and my skills better than the Glocks, xd, ppqs I’ve owned.

I like mine for sure.  Just wish they made back straps that go all the way up the beavertail like Glocks do.  Other than that, I think the ergos are far better than a stock Glock.

I'm in the same boat and ended up using a Hogue sleeve that does this. With the Oem backstraps, using one large enough for my hand caused the gun to point differently.

I concur!

Love my couple CZs and am eyeballing the full size 45 but I’ll keep the Glocks too.

Our former Chief was a Glock aficionado and armorer so it’s all we knew. I appreciate what a “Glock” is but wow the first time I got to run a box through a P-10C and do a 50 round qualification I really really loved the P-10 platform. It just felt great and the proof was in the scoring (better yes) but easier in a way.

I’m looking forward to doing it soon with a P-07 platform soon.

Don’t get me wrong, the p-10 series pistols feel great in my hand and I shoot them very well.  Better than my 43x and g19 gen 4. The only polymer pistol that fits my hand better is the H&K VP9. With the changeable side and rear panels.  h&K got that right in my opinion.  To me though the hk isn’t worth the cost difference with the p-10. Given to buy either again I’d buy a p-10 without hesitation.

I am looking to get the P10F, so demo'd a P10C at an LGS yesterday. It was the one with the ambidexrous mag release, and was next to impossible to release while holding the gun. The trigger also felt heavy on every 6th or 7th pull,  though that could have been due to it being a rental and maybe not maintained that well.

But to the mag release issue, do the newer C's or F's still have that problem?

I prefer the ambi Mag release.

Why?

Because I cannot think of a situation when I would be dropping a loaded magazine. When a mag is full it was bleeped near impossible to drop that magazine without seriously altering my grip.

As you reduced the number of rounds in the mag it got easier.

An empty mag is cake. At about 10 rounds it takes a deliberate press. But it works. 12 rounds was the number it seemed based on my recollection.

I have an OR P-10C so it comes with the traditional magazine release and it’s like every other pistol in that releasing mags are easy.

It’s a phenomenal shooting platform: my favorite for polymer pistols. It’s not perfect but nothing is. It could use more stippling all the way up the frame - like all pistols - but it’s snappy relatively speaking compared to the “flippy” VP9 and the oh, so “flexible-feeling” Glock 19X/45 that additional stippling (or better yet, material & stippling ) for the support hand thumb.

I’ve noticed that smaller grips require more muscle contraction to hang on and fatigue will arrive much earlier with the P-10C than say the Glock. But the P-10C feels better in my hand.

Lesson: what “feels good” at the counter is not necessarily best.

Great pistol!

Unless you're strapped for cash, I would never sell a gun immediately after buying it's replacement.  I would wait a couple of years.  Sometime you may find you don't like the new gun as much as you did during the honeymoon phase.

I agree with TX shooter3 - wait a while (if you can and don't need the cash) before you sell any others that you think this CZ replaces.   And I'll add, especially any glocks (and I say this not as a glock fan - which I am not).   Simple reason being you can sell most any glock at any time in any market (lots of people want a "glock" because of the name recognition whether it is well suited to them or not).
