Gear Head Works Tailhook - swap to collapsible stock?
« on: May 25, 2021, 12:32:54 PM »
My Form 1 is in process to SBR my Scorpion, trying to get ahead of some anticipated new gun laws coming down the chute (arm braces).  Currently I have the Gear Head Works Tailhook.  I've looked around but can't find anything... does anyone know if there's an adjustable/collapsible stock piece that can slide into the Gear Head Works hinged stock in place of the Tailhook I have in it now?

U mean as in a cuff to fit the gearhead adapter on the cz arm? If so yes. I just put a sb mini on mine for now. But due to the same reasons.. I been trying to convert all my builds to take advantage of the 1013 picatinny adapters. That way a it's more of a buy once.. cry once.. and get like a sig rattler brace and and use that one brace for many guns. I'll find a pic of mini on a folder on mine tho

No, don't want a cuff... I actually like the Tailhook from Gear Head Works as it pertains to arm braces.  I want to change the tailhook out and put in a regular adjustable normal rifle stock.  Something like the picture below... I just didn't want to buy the whole hinged piece if I didn't have to.  Just remove the tailhook adapter on the end of mine and put in a collapsible stock.

CZ-USA had one in stock... just ordered it.  Will be a while till my Form 1/Stamp comes back. These days, it seems like a LOT of stuff is out of stock, so figured I'd get it while I could.

If you E-filed your form 1, it only takes less than a month. My latest E-filed form 1 was sent to ATF on March 27 and was approved on April 20.

That’s three weeks from start to finish.

Wow George, you're giving me hope.  I E-filed mine on May 14th.  So we'll see how it goes.  I've heard quite a mixed bag as to how long it might take.  I'm in no hurry, just trying to dodge a last minute rush in case arm braces are made illegal, which is trying to get sent through again.

If you sbr the gun and like your tailhook, you can keep your tailhook.

Sorry, that's a bad joke, but not a joke at the same time.

Haha, well yes that is an option I guess.  Once the Form 1 goes through I guess I could  but if the legality/status of an arm brace changes all bets may be off regardless.  Who knows.  But in line with what you're saying - just SBR it and move on.

I’m heartened by the reportedly short wait time for Form 1.

George was your 3 weeks start to finish as an Individual or via a Trust?

love the stock. I almost bought a scorpion then changed my mind and got a CMMG Banshee 9mm. Is there a website that can help you through form1?
Thanks

Process is very simple.  Just follow the video (filing as individual or as a trust) and fill out the form.  I went down to my local Sherriff's office and got fingerprint cards made.  Local SO charges $10/card but the lady was pretty cool and charged me a flat $10.  So I handful made in case I want to do another Form 1 at some point.  You have 10 days from the time you click submit on the e-Form to send them your fingerprint cards.  Due to such, I got my fingerprint cards first.  With the videos below, everything is VERY simple.

It was individual.

A shooting friend who filed his using a trust only took four weeks from start to finish.
