P10 Night fision co witness sight question
« on: May 28, 2021, 12:58:27 PM »
I have a p10s and F, just threw in an RMR and they aren’t tall enough to cowitness. Anyways I’m sure you guys know that but my question is have any of you guys run the night fision sights? Any issues I should expect to run into? How’s the quality? I just ordered the blacked out rear with yellow ring front. Thanks in advance

The Night Fision sights are the sights to use. They provide a lower 1/3 co-witness. You do not need tritium.

I have them on my P-10C OR.

Thanks, how was the fitment? I’ve seen some reviews saying it needing some grinding down

I just put a rmr on my p10c and keeping stock sights. Imo I don't see a need for cowitness sites.

I don't have a P10 of any variant but I'm 3 for 3 for night fission products being of poor quality. Tried a set on a 1911 and the rear sight was .008 undersize and just dropped right through. They said OHH the dovetail is machined wrong, no dummies your sight is out of spec my dovetail is right on. Same issue with a front sight on a P-07. Bought a set of Dawson's from CGW for a PCR and the darn front sight was night fission and while it fit OK the tritium lamp stopped glowing on the 2nd range trip. I'll pass going forward on anything from those guys.

Thanks, I refuse to file down a sight. Once it gets here if it doesn’t fit perfect I’ll send it back and go with trijicon. I just wanted the OEM look but I won’t tolerate sub par quality

It’s tight but no grinding was required.

It’s not “sub-par quality”.

It’s called tolerance stacking and it’s better for them to be slightly oversized than to EVER be undersized. Do you think the dovetails are EXACTLY the same dimension on EVERY SINGLE slide?

Nope.

Nothing is. Ever.

Their initial offerings were... not good. I can attest to that, too.

They’ve come a long way now.

well that could be the case but my experiences are pretty recent all within the last 18 months. The PCR sights were purchased just a few months back. I should have tried to get them replaced under warranty but after 3 bad times with the brand I just gave up and bought Trijicons from CZ Custom.

While I don’t doubt others’ experiences, my 2 experiences with night fision has been positive. Put night fision sights on my P10c and a PPQ I no longer own.

I do like the sight picture on my P10c;  fast, intuitive, POA=POI.

All that said, I’m enamored with my latest new sights I installed on my 75B- CZC’s  TRUGLO tfx. https://czcustom.com/cz-parts-all/front-and-rear-sights/czc-truglo-tfx-front-sight.html

Like a midget at a urinal, I'll have to keep on my toes

I had the same issue with the tritium lamps going bad on two Dawson front sights for a P-07 that were labeled Night Fision.  First one went bad after one range trip of around 150 rounds. Dawson replaced it and the second one did the same thing within 50 rounds. I ended up returning that one and opted for a fiber optic replacement instead.  Glad to know I wasn't the only one that had that experience.  The person at Dawson kinda made me feel like it was my fault due to incorrectly installing them when I called them about the second sight going bad.  :o

The bad thing is many of the well known sight makers like Dawson are having stuff made by Night Fision. Novak's is doing it too. I got a front sight for a 1911 from Novak recently and it was labeled Night Fision as well. After all the previous trouble I mentioned I didn't even take it out of the package and just sent it back for a refund. I did the same as you and decided on a FO sight for that gun.

Call it whatever you want but I’ve replaced sights on probably 2 dozen polymer pistols and never had to do that one time with trijicon or ameriglo. If these require it I will simply return them and order trijicons. I just liked the OEM look these have.

Sights should be very tight in the dovetail and often do require some hand fitting. I just installed Trijicons on a new PCR and  both sights required some fitting just to get started in the dovetails. This is simply a fact. You may get lucky and yours won't need any fitting but if you think there is something abnormal about having to do such a thing you are totally wrong. If you are uncomfortable fitting a sight or any other part you should see a gunsmith.
