I've gotta say that IDPA is fun! I was excited to come in 8th out of 11 because that meant I didn't get disqualified for violating any safety rules my first time out. My goal was last or better. Everybody was very friendly and helpful since it was my first time. I most need to work on reloading while keeping my firearm pointed exactly down range and keeping my finger well clear of the trigger. I've got a habit of bringing my pistol to my magazine as I'm bringing the magazine to the pistol canting the barrel up and to the right. Time to practice.
My stock CZ P-09 ran like a champ. A fellow there had a Cajunized SP-01 and was kind enough to let me shoot it. It was definitely a smoother trigger pull and break, but I honestly thought it would be even more noticeably better. Happily this cooled my impulse to Cajunize my P-09 so I can put my money towards other things.
I ended up using this holster:
CZ P-09 OWB CONCEALMENT/IDPA HOLSTER and this magazine carrier
Universal Double Magazine Holder and both were great. Especially for the price. Paired those with the KORE Essentials belt I already owned and a longer button down shirt and I was good to go for the comp.
I did have one penalty when I did a reload and bumped out my 2nd magazine while pulling the first and didn't notice it dropped to the ground. Easily fixed by tightening the retention.
I'm looking forward to the next one, especially now that prices are dropping for ammo!
