A member of our shooting club showed up with this rifle on Tuesday rimfire

Serial number indicates it may be a Lightning made in 1889 ?!

The plain Jane smooth cheaper wood version was one of the first 22's I got to shoot.  Was an uncles barn gun for rats etc so it was a bit grungy and rusty but shot great.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

yupper.... it looks like a lightening to me.

iirc, i would be careful/gentle on how you use it.  i think the guts were not so robust.  also make sure if you decide to shoot any ammo, its the correct ammo.

some guns way back then were made for 22 Longs or 22 Shorts.

and i havent seen one of those in many many many decades....

I don’t know, I didn’t shoot it and only noticed it when the owner was done and packing it

However I insisted he thinks of me if he ever sells it

That is awesome! I love old .22 rifles - there's just something about them that's so cool.
No matter where you're going, there you are.
