Odd serial number
« on: July 26, 2021, 01:33:31 PM »
Looking for someone with more knowledge than I. Most of my CZ's have serial numbers starting
with A,B or C followed by six numbers. The one with the odd serial number is a CZ75b in 40 S&W.
The number starts with A followed by only 4 numbers and ends with an X. All numbers match.
I bought this fine firearm at a gun show several years ago. Does anyone have knowledge of this
type serial number?

Can't guarantee what follows but it's been my observation that CZ starts with low serial numbers and goes up. When they reach the end of six digits they start again with a prefix. I have a 1994 vintage model 85 that's serial numbered C85XX. I have some CZ 527's that have 5 digit serial numbers and one with a six digit serial numbers but no prefixes. The prefixed serial numbers (I have A-B & C) are all six digit serial numbers. Look on your slide by the ejection port. There should be a two digit number stamped above the extractor. This is the year your 75B was made. I'm betting it's from the 1990's early 2000's.

You are dead on. Made in 2001. Probably early in 40 manufacture. Thank you.

Pinned at the very top of this forum on the full sized 75s  is a thread (CZ 75 history and serial range) that is probably more than you’d care to know about CZ 75 related serial numbers Not much info on the .40 S&W numbers but that’s about right with the older numbering for this caliber production starting in the 90s.
