CGW SP-01 planned mods list, need input.
« on: August 04, 2021, 06:44:36 AM »
Hello,

Currently on the waitlist about 2-3 weeks out to get my CZ SP-01 safety model cajunized. The following is all the mods I have planned, anything else you'd add? Anything you feel is unnecessary or would not work well? The purpose of this gun is entirely range fun toy, not being used for self defense or CCW. Just want it to look clean as possible and be accurate as possible.

CZ SP-01 Safety

1) Convert DA/SA to SAO.
2) Upgrade to Pro vs Defensive trigger kit w/ flat trigger.
3) Reverse skeleton and single top port slide cuts.
4) RMR optic cut with reduced weight.
5) Delete lanyard loop.
6) Delete rear sight dovetail.
7) Remove front sight and fill with flush metal piece.
8) NP3+ coat barrel, internals, and frame.
9) DLC coat slide, slide release, safety, and hammer.
10) Install 10x bushing.
11) Install hardened firing pin/retaining pin.

Thanks for any and all input!

In a Single Action Only configuration, what dose the Pro Package offer over the Standard Package? It has been my understanding that the only addition to the Pro Package is the Reach Reduction Kit. The Reach Reduction kit consists of an RRK disconector and a DA/SA Trigger, with pre travel and over travel set screws. I believe that with the DA removed, the RRK parts are not used.

Otherwise it sounds like a neat build.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Ya that was also my understanding. So I guess I won't need the pro and will go with the defensive.

For SAO you don't need a disconnector or lightweight hammer spring either.

Should I still go for the improved hammer? Like the comp or race hammer?

Absolutely,  the hammer is central to a crisp single action break. With a cajun hammer, adjustable sear, reduced power trigger return spring, and the oem hammer spring- you should end up with a very crisp 2-2.5 lb pull. If you want the absolute shortest travel, have them delete the firing pin block. The CZC comp hammer will usually yield a slightly lighter pull than one of the cajun hammers, but won't be quite as crisp on the break. Honestly though, this is only noticeable in dry or slow fire. Both are very nice and won't disappoint.
