Anyone else seen this damage
Guide rod is getting beat up in my sp01 shadow czc custom after only about 150 rounds,
using 14# recoil spring and S&B factory ammo

.should I just file out or replace with a plastic guide rod ?
my shadow 2 has no issues or damage after many hundreds of rounds with same ammo.

Your going to get a lot of different opinions on this topic and I'm going to throw mine in the mix.

CZ is shipping their factory metal guide rod pistols with a shock buff. I'm shooting a 11# spring with the buff and metal guide rod in my SP-01 Shadow Orange and have absolutely no damage whatsoever in over 2000 rounds fired. Additionally a buff probably provides additional protection against slide stop breakage.

A plastic guide rod is also an option and as always YMMV. Best regards

I’ll contact CZ Custom and let them know about it especially since you only shot 150 rounds. I don’t use a shock buff on my factory shadow 2 and don’t have that type of damage.

I had exactly that kind of damage on the guide rod in my first CZC Shadow SP-01.

I ground off the rolled edges and put it back in the gun.  Three years later, and no further damage and no other (slide stop) damage to the gun.  Lots of rounds downrange.  It is used in competition.

The guide rod is contacting the barrel peanut during recoil.  look for a mark on the barrel.

Stuart said that was normal for stainless guid rod, wondering why my shadow. Doesn’t have the same🧐🧐
