I've run both a Glock 43 and a P365, both with and without an RDS. If you want to get the smallest possible profile, then an RDS would not be an option. But I think it depends a lot on how you train. Personally, I prefer micro red dots. For example, the HE407K GR. It is the perfect size and profile to match these guns. And it truly does help with shot placement.

Old eyes are a factor.    Without special glasses, for iron sights, I can't shoot a 25 yd head shot.   I just can't see the target and the sights accurately enough with my walking around progressive lenses.

While it's unlikely I will need to make that shot, It's also unlikely I will ever need a carry gun.     My normal carry is a P10C with a dot.    I compete (USPSA and IDPA) with a dot.  I am in the market for a Shield + with a dot, though I don't want a performance center gun.   Particularly for the medicare set, If you practice with it, the dot makes you better.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

Once I switched to dot a couple of years ago I decided to put one on all my competition and carry guns. Including my P365.
Let's go Brandon!
