Red dot for P07 urban
« on: September 28, 2021, 01:00:40 AM »
I'm currently looking to add an optic to my P07 urban. I plan to mill it so I can have it as low to the bore line as I can so I can keep accuracy. Any suggestions of optic? I'm looking for under $250. I know optics are pricey and I want something decent but I want it to be asteticly pleasing as well (good looking on my gun).
I've seen the swampfox kingslayer or liberty but I don't know what mill pattern it requires or it's features. There's also the Holosun 407K which I really like (especially the shake awake) but I feel that might sit way too high and make my gun look funny, plus concealing it will be a pain. I'd love to see photos of a P07 with a Holosun 407/507K if it's been milled down to sit lower.
So any advice or other options to think about?

[Update!] A friend suggested I look into the Swampfox Justice or Liberty since I'm interested in shake awake features and a top loading battery.

Range toy or personal protection?

Range toy?  Doesn't matter if the sight breaks/is not reliable.

Personal protection?  Trijicon RMR or Holoson for reliability.

My 9MM P07 has a Holoson on it.  Slide milled at DP Custom Works for the red dot and the back up rear sight.

My .40 P07 has an RMR on it.  Slide milled my Primary Machine for the red dot and the back up rear sight.

I don't think the red dots make them any harder to conceal.  I'm using the same holster I used prior to the red dot I just modified the kydex some at the front to accomodate the red dot on top of the slide.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Nice looking pistols M1.

I just installed a Holosun 407c on a new, optic ready P10-c, the price was about $225 on Midway last weekend. I have the smaller multi reticle 507k on a Sig 365xl and really like it. I only use the 2 moa dot so I was able to save over a $100 by going with the 407c, I ordered the green dot model and dry firing in the basement I really like it so far.

If it were me I'd chose the bigger glass for the P07, for the narrower slide top on my P01, I think I'm going with the 507k again,  it's about a quarter inch narrower.

Dutch, got one of the small Holosons last winter/spring.  Thought about the P01 Omega, but didn't go that route, yet.  May still, some day.

The P07 can use the bigger red dots.  Not sure what a P07 with a small Holoson/RMR would look like?  Should work fine but it might take my mind awhile to think it looked "normal."

It used to bother me about the zero when taking a red dot off a slide to replace a battery.  My first two red dot pistols have the dual illuminated RMRs on them.  No battery/switches.  Just fiber optics (day) and/or tritium (night/low light).  However, with the P07 with the Holoson I've had the red dot off twice and put it back on and the dot is right there at the distances I shoot (no more than 12 or 15 yds.)  So I'm less worried about that (right now) and will use a Holoson on my next red dot pistol and confirm it works like the P07.

RMR 06 type 2 or Holosun 407c, 508t. Those are your 3 serious options.  The 407c can b3 found for under 200 regularly.

I just ordered a Primary Arms Holosun 507c with the Vulcan reticle. New style reticle that really speeds the pickup and accuracy It is north of your price range @ $309+ I hated to spend that much but it is going on a new Walther PDP full size that of course it is milled for optic. It seems to be that optics are getting to be a must have on pistols, really considering getting my p07 & 09 milled.

Not sure what path you took, but I would go with Holoson or Swampfox. I run both and they have been great. I put the Swampfox Justice on a P09 and it is excellent. Had CGW mill it and put rear sight in front of optic like I prefer. I have a holosun on a beretta 92 Elite LTT RDO and it is great as well. It has the ACSS Vulcan reticle. I am still not decided on how much I like that reticle, but over the optic is excellent.

I like your front iron sight better than the one CGW put on my P09 (it is freaking huge). I really do not see the reason why my front sight blade is so massive. Are your sights plain black?

Claymore 507, the front sight is black and the rear sight is black.  No idea what brand they are.  The work was done by DP Custom Works, LLC down in NC.
