VZ58 locking pieces ?
« on: October 07, 2021, 11:46:45 PM »
I pickup up a spare bolt and locking piece for my VZ2008. I seem to remember reading that the Czechs used three different sizes of locking pieces to tweak the headspace on each rifle. The locking piece on my VZ2008 has a "03" stamped on it while the spare has no number stamped on it. Can anyone confirm that there are three different locking pieces or if they are all the same size ? -Thanks

There are different sizes of locking pieces -- don't know that we know the exact number of varying dimensions.  There may also be variances in bolt carrier, bolt, and where the barrel is pinned that affect headspacing beyond the locking pieces.

Best course is to get go/no go gauges in CIP if CSA/Czechpoint/surplus barrels or SAAMI if Century American ones, to check headspacing when changing around parts.
