5.3" 3 lug under 6.84" HG ?
« on: October 22, 2021, 07:52:03 PM »
I'm thinking about getting the HB Industries 5.3 barrel and the HB 6.84 angled hg for my Evo pistol. Currently has the 6.74" barrel and factory cheese grater.

The idea is to tuck my Rugged Obsidian 45.
However, the Rugged will be jumping around, and sometimes  I will be shooting  the Scorp noisy.

I have seen a flashider that attaches to the 3 lug, which may be enough extension to keep the muzzle blast from burning my fingers when not suppressed.

Has anyone done something like this?
Wish I had as many guns as my husband has tools!

Do you have the barrel with the 3 lug & 1/2x28 threads? Either will work but finding a muzzle device will limit your choices some and will likely cost more.

Look into a blast shield instead of a flash suppressor. The blast shield is basically a hollow tube with no end cap. To push the blast and concussion forward. They can be anywhere from 2"-6" long and various diameters.  Ideal if your handguard is longer than the barrel.

You could also easily build your own also. SD tactical has tubes and adapters. https://sdtacticalarms.com/

I'm assuming the suppressor will physically fit, I'm not sure of the dimensions of either.

One thing to note. If your suppressor is close to the diameter of the handguard, you may lose the ability to use the forward mlok slots due to clearance issues with the mlok screws and  suppressor.

The barrel I plan on getting has the lugs machined, and no additional threads.
The blast shield looks like the one to get. It may be flush with the HG, so handstop is a must.
The ID of the handguard is 1.57, the suppressor OD is 1.37 - so it may be close on the M-loks!
