452shooter, yes, the American has two action screws. Instead of a barrel lug, the american has a tang lug with the standard screw in front of the trigger. This alows it to float from the receiver out. Most don't float from the factory as the barrel channel is tight on the right side. A common mod is to open the channel by sanding down the tight areas. In my opinion, this adds additional stress to the wood in the area of the action. This can be eliminated by adding pillars and bedding. Not everyone will agree with the necessity of this work, but it was what it took to restore mine. Actually, the accuracy became even better new.
