why are the 452 American's the only free floated ones?

you'd think they all would?

at least the varmit rifle?

im a bit new to accuracy in rimfires, mostly shoot 223's and 308's til now (bolt guns and autos)

guess the rules are a bit different for accuracy in a rimfire?b

The Americans are the only CZ's without barrel lugs held down by stock screws. The Varmint barrel lug is dovetailed into the barrel and can be removed. My Varmint has the lug removed and a free-floated barrel, entire action and 1" of barrel are acraglas bedded, and the single action screw is pillared.

Does the CZ 452 American have two bedding screws in the action since the barrel is free floating?

BobD50, I like your approach to picking-up some accuracy from your Varmint. I am curious about the results? Any tighter groups at 50 yds?

452shooter, yes, the American has two action screws. Instead of a barrel lug, the american has a tang lug with the standard screw in front of the trigger. This alows it to float from the receiver out. Most don't float from the factory as the barrel channel is tight on the right side. A common mod is to open the channel by sanding down the tight areas. In my opinion, this adds additional stress to the wood in the area of the action. This can be eliminated by adding pillars and bedding. Not everyone will agree with the necessity of this work, but it was what it took to restore mine. Actually, the accuracy became even better new.
