P07 Decocker
« on: December 01, 2021, 02:06:20 PM »
Am new to the CZ forum and not even sure if this is the correct place to post this so if someone could guide me in the right direction it would be appreciated, Purchased a P07 a few months back and took it to the range. After about 50 rounds (mix of self defense and FMJ) I went to squeeze the trigger and it would not move hardly at all. I noticed the decocker lever on the left side of the gun had a gap (was trying to attach picture but don't see a way to do it) like it was coming out. I squeezed it back together and everything worked as normal. I figured i needed to clean it before i used it so i took it home and cleaned the crap out of it. It has been a while since i have had time to get back to the range until today. I went and loaded up a couple of magazines and after about 12 rounds I had same issue. I pushed the decocker back together and it is all good. Now about every 5 rounds the decocker wants to come apart. Has anyone else had same issue? I really do not want to hassle sending the gun it and was thinking about just replacing the decocker assembly and calling it a day. I just wanted to make sure that was the issue and not some other flaw that everyone is aware of. and BTW I love this gun and want to use it for my EDC but not with this issue.  Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Something is definitely wrong with your P-07 if the decocker is walking out like that.  There have been issues reported with certain models of the P-01 Omega doing that on their own, but I've never heard of a P-07 or P-09 doing it.  The ejector is under spring tension and should prevent that from happening.  Does the ejector spring back up when you push it down?

You're probably going to need to either remove your decocker parts, left and right side, and inspect them for any possible problems, if you feel up to that... or else just send it into the factory.  I remember one person had a cracked cam on his decocker shaft, so things like that do happen occasionally.

I'm wondering if the little spring on the decocker shaft is missing or broken? But if it was, I dont think the decocker lever would even work? Though that still doesnt explain the lever working its way out.  Broken shaft maybe? I agree that a good inspection is needed, and will probably expose the issue.
I recently bought a P07, but changed out the decocker for the safety immediately.

Call CZ-USA and let them fix it under warranty. They will email you a shipping label and they will pay the freight both ways. I know sending a gun in is a hassle but something like this should be addressed by CZ so they can let the factory know what's going on and hopefully prevent such things in the future

Wow! Thank you for the quick responses. I field stripped it and when I pushed down the ejector lever several times the decocker started walking and the ejector lever stayed down. It is almost appears that the side to side play in the ejector lever is causing it. I have no issues and am comfortable tearing into it and replacing parts but you all are correct, with less than 100 rounds through this and having issues. I will contact CZ and get it sent to them for repair.

Thank you everyone for your quick responses and insight, it is greatly appreciated. I will update when its all done.

I had thought about doing that but figured I would let CZ fix the problem. I just got an email from customer service and they are sending FedEx labor shortly. They said it would be about 4 to 6 weeks before I get it back.

From my experience, CZ never takes 4-6wks to repair and ship. Usually 1wk for me. But then again, my repairs have been minor.

I hope it’s something minor and I get it back quicker.

It is certainly something minor and I'm sure they'll fix it as fast as possible. They usually move faster than the time frame they give which is prudent really. I'd rather they say 4-6 weeks and be faster than give a shorter time frame and take months. I've had it happen with other gun companies.

I'll also be interested in hearing what they did and confirming the problem is solved.  I guess its possible you might end up with a new polymer frame, which means a new gun, since that's the serialized part.  Otherwise the most major thing they could do would be to replace the rear insert.

I've seen reports of people having this problem with the P-01 Omega and ending up with a new gun, but in that pistol there is no rear insert... from looking at a parts diagram, it appears to all be integral to the aluminum alloy frame.

I don't think anyone ever said (or heard from CZ) what was done to fix them.

Some people fixed their own by modifying the left side decocker shaft to make it a hard/friction fit into the right side lever.

I was curious about the problem but neither of mine had the issue when I re-installed the decocking levers to see if the problem existed in mine.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

chances are he doesn't want to switch over to an " off switch " on his EDC.
ME EITHER.
