The ideal one is the one in your hand.

this, but many people dont see/understand the concept.

also, someone posted anything or any gun that gives them time to get the rifle or other gun.

SP-01 Tactical would be my first choice.

SP-01 if you want a manual safety.

And above all....Cajun Gun Works is your friend!!!

Read Mas Ayoob on messing with stock triggers.    The only thing I've done with carry gun triggers is replace the stock P-07 trigger return spring with a CGW spring.    Doesn't impact pull weight measurably and makes the gun more reliable.

Sooooo....you messed with it???

Shame on you for not listening to Ayoob!!!

I do the full CGW treatment on all my CZ's. I don't own a single gun of any type that has not had some action enhancement one way or the other. CZ Custom, Cajun Gun Works, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom, and soooo many more sell highly customized self defense intended firearms with serious improvements. I can think of at least 17 people I know that carry and they all carry action enhanced pistols. I'm not concerned in the least.

My CZolt Python was $1401 at my LGS. Ok maybe not strictly a pistol instead of a handgun but I'm confident in what I can do with it.

My SP01 safety is besides my bed loaded with Sig V-Crown.  Has the CGW Pro Package in it and polishing all done by myself.

My 'ideal' HD handgun was chosen based on where I lived, reliability, and accuracy. It isn't my favorite handgun. That is why it isn't a CZ. So, not a good fit for this topic. Sorry.

It is a Glock G34, with Streamlight Tlr-1 HL mounted.

As a California Resident, this is a gun that comes from the factory with a trigger pull around 4.5lbs [so, no pesky DA can say I reduced the trigger pull and made it unsafe, due to being a 'nutjob' or something], it is self-defense/duty accurate [IOW, more accurate than I am], and has a reputation for reliability.

Oh, and the package is less than $1000 with light attached.

Another reason for this is because I wouldn't miss it if the DA held it for a long time to verify it was a good Self-Defense incident. If it came back nicked up or they decided to keep my gun but not charge me [this is California- weird stuff happens here], I would be less upset than on the pistols I actually LIKE.

Now, there is no manual safety lever [other than trigger face], so this doesn't meet the optional preference listed.

However, this is my choice.

If you live in another state and like my logic, you can apply it to other handguns. I would have no problem using a manual safety S&W M&P [for example] for my purposes. I just cannot get them imported here, due to our gun list. That is why 'glock' is my choice.

Not what I have, but what I think would be ideal.
SP-01 Tactical with new Mecgar 19rd mags.  Cajunized.  Holosun 507c.  Surefire x300 until the new Cloud Defensive pistol WML comes out.  If it's over-budget, then TLR-1HL.

If I'm fighting for my family's life, I want all the cheat codes in my pistol.  If the police confiscate it, then I'll be bummed but happy that the tool served its purpose.  Tools are replaceable.

I shot a P10F today and I liked it. It would make a great HD gun.

I would lean toward a heavy pistol, like the SP-01 (Actually my Canik P120 has that role), in case of a tussle with the perp, it has to be use as a hammer, not a polymer's high point.

Depends a lot on how much you practice.    I like dots with back up iron sights.    But I dry fire about 4 hours a week and shoot a couple hundred rounds a week.   I compete with DA/SA guns.     But all my defensive guns are striker now.    This is mainly for weight.    I carry all of the guns that I use for any other home defense uses.    It's also so I can hand one of my defense guns to my wife, if needed.    She doesn't do DA guns.

I prefer DA/SA guns as well. My current HD gun is a P09 milled for a red dot w/TLR-1HL. I just recently switched to this P09 from a Beretta 92A1. I have gotten into pistol optics and this P09 is my first go at it. Not sure if I am going all in on optics or not yet. My wife prefers striker fired and uses an M&P M2.0 9mm.

I actually have been seriously considering switching over to the M&P M2.0 since if she ever needed to use my gun there would be no issue. However, I just really love the Beretta 92 and P09. I have an SP-01 Tac I have considered using, but the DA pull is a little long for me. Will be sending it to CGW soon and hoping the reach reduction will help.

For me, it's definitely my SP-01 Tactical with a Streamlight TLR-1 HL on it, and extended 20 rd mags.

But really, I think whichever CZ you shoot best and can mount a WML on.

After shooting one today, I’m going to change my answer to the 75BD. [emoji16]

I use an SP01 tactical and couple P09s everything has lots of cajun parts and Fiber optic fronts and black rears. I prefer a weapon light over night sights.
