Question for those with Red Dot Magnifiers
« on: January 11, 2022, 04:00:42 AM »

Hi. I am looking to get either a Juliet 3 or HMX3 to go with my existing Romeo 5 red dot.

I'd like to ask -

1. I am being quoted the same price for both units. Any preferences? I am leaning towards the Juliet if only to keep the branding similar =)

2. From what I have read, you only 'zero' the magnifier by making sure the red dot is squarely in the middle of the magnifier optic, did I get that right or is there more to it?

TIA!

You are correct, you only zero the red dot, magnifier can come on and off and you will be fine. With most magnifiers you can change the point of magnification so the red dot is in the center, most come that way already if it is aligned with the red dot. I took off my red dot magnifier combo and went with a LPVO instead, but my combo, Vortex Strikefire and magnifier was bulky and heavy.

Phyffe,
1) You will be fine with either of those two. I went with the Vortex Micro 3X  because it is smaller than them and it has a solid (better in my opinion) QD base.
2) Yes, you zero your Red Dot first (without the magnifier) and then adjust the magnifier so the dot is in the middle of it.
I have a Romeo 5/Vortex Micro 3X combo on one of my ARs and love it.

Thanks for clearing that up guys.

I noticed that for the price you pay, the SIG does not have a QD mount compared to the Holosun or the Vector.

Do you guys find a QD mount something you tend to use often?

I keep the Red Dot mounted on the rifle all the time. But I like the choice of removing it quickly should I want/need to use the iron sights.
