What does this even mean? It's not a Remington, it's a Ruger. Whatever Remington's QC is or was, it has no bearing on this rifle.

FWIW, my 4 year old 1895SBL has been faultless.

Remington destroyed the Marlin brand. They only got it right in the last few years of production. If yours is 4 years old you certainly got a good one.  My point was anyone who trusted Remington should certainly put same faith in Ruger who literally has one chance to get this right.

That surprises me, because Ive never had a quality issue with a Ruger product and Ive owned more than a few of their firearms.

My bad experiences were with a couple of Ruger single action revolvers that I ordered a few years back, the quality was pathetic.

Ok, never had one of those…just their 22s, P series semis and SR 1911s.

We own several Rugers .... Pistols, Revolvers and Rifles
Not a single issue with any of them
Topnotch Customer Service too

We also have three Marlin "JM" (pre-safety) Levers and wouldn't trade any of them
So let's see if Ruger can regain the Marlin Reputation before we crap on them

Remington's past QC, or lack of it, has nothing to do with Ruger's QC at present.

If you have had issues with Ruger's QC in the past, that might have some relevance, otherwise your post is still meaningless.

I wouldn't have any problem trying out a Ruger made Marlin in .357 or .44 mag when they hit the shelves.

I agree with this. As for the calibers mentioned, one can only hope that Ruger would produce a product that didn't have the problems which many Marlin pistol-caliber lever guns were prone to. I had two, one in 44 mag and another in 357. The 357 worked like it should, the 44 never did, and eventually I sold it at a loss- because I was honest about it's problems.

Ruger has always struck me as a decent quality maker, though I admit my own experience with their products has been mostly limited to handguns. Then again Remington WAS a quality manufacturer at on time. So, I don't know how Ruger quality may or may not have fluctuated in the same way.
