CZ 455 20” Trainer
« on: December 24, 2021, 01:37:16 PM »
A friend is selling his CZ 455 Trainer w/ 20” heavy barrel and Manner’s stock.  He’s upgrading and no longer needs the 455 for NRL22 rifle.

I’ve been doing some research into the 455 vs 457.  Other than making changes to how the bolt is released from the action and the addition of the push-safety on the 457 is there anything else I need to be aware of?  How much compatibility is there with regards to parts between the two gens?

I shot his 455 Trainer last week and with SK ammo we were busting clay pigeons into smaller and smaller shards at 100 yds and had hits out to 300 on a steel plate (albeit fairly large).  I really like the Manners stock, much more comfortable than some of the chassis stocks I’ve shot and it balanced really well when shooting from non-prone positions.

I’ve been hankering for a really precise .22LR, and may start shooting NRL22 as a way to practice for centerfire PRS.

The only major components that inter change between the 455 and 457 series are the barrels and magazines as far as I know. I have a single 455 Full Stock and in all honesty it gives up nothing to my 452's. No 457's though. If you know this rifle and its capabilities as well as enjoying the Manners stock why gamble on an unknown rifle off the shelf?

Thanks for the info.  I’m comfortable that its a solid rifle, just trying to learn more about CZ rimfires.

The 457 action is shorter, thus this:

Thanks for that info.  I picked up the 455 today as well as an Area 419 universal Arca-lock rail so I can swap my bipod back and forth between my centerfire rifle.  Also have a 30 MOA rail on order to replace the 15 MOA that’s on there since I run out of “up” after 12 mils with the current scope on there (13.8 needed to hit out to 300 yds according to my Kestrel).

I’m gratified that there is decent after market support for the 455 based on what I am finding online at either Area 419 or Anarchy Outdoors.  There’s a NRL22 match in a few weeks, so I’ve got time to get this rifle setup and get some practice in.

You forgot to mention the very nice adjustable trigger on the 457.  I have gotten mine down to a crisp 15 oz.
