Girsan MC39
« on: December 30, 2021, 09:37:47 AM »
I picked a Girsan MC39 today.  It's mostly a clone of a Beretta 92 Centurion, but it has a frame mounted manual safety without a decocker like a CZ.  I couldn't be more pleased.  The fit and finish is great.  The manual safety is just like what I've imagined that all Berettas should have.  If Beretta had done this years ago, CZ and the CZ clones wouldn't have eaten so far in to Beretta's market share.  The slide and barrel are serial numbered just like the frame.  The trigger and guide rod are steel.  The only negatives that I can think of are it only came with one magazine and I'd prefer it didn't have a rail.  Some might prefer the safety to also function as a decocker, but that doesn't matter to me.  I like it to function just like my CZ's and CZ clones.

A friend of mine bought one a few months back. Overall it's a solid, well made pistol, but not quite as refined as a Beretta. I did a fluff 'n buff on it and installed a D spring for him, which brought the trigger pull down to 4 lb.s SA and got rid of the grit. I'm not a fan of the cast finger grooves on the front strap but I will say that it's a pretty decent shooter - especially for the price.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

As far as the fit and finish goes, I'd say that this pistol and the Regard (full size with slide mounted safety) that I purchased are better than the Berettas that I've purchased over the past several years, including Italy and Tennessee.

You can Mike Tyson laugh if you'd like, but both of the Girsans that I recently purchased have better finishes than my last two Berettas.  And unlike the Berettas, they have no tool marks.

The Beretta 92 and clones are good looking guns but way too big for much more than a range gun. Just my opinion. I am a big fan of good guns with a budget price though.

I'm definitely not rich, and at 60 years old, definitely not a kid. Are you trying to be a Knight in Shining Armor for Bret?
You boys have fun with your Turkish products.  ::)

Oh, because they're from Turkey they must be inferior.  Have you actually held one in your hands and examined it yourself?
