cartridge jams
« on: January 06, 2022, 11:36:03 AM »
Hello,
I'm new to the forum and have a question.  I bought a CZ82 last fall and have just been able to take it to the range.  I shot about 50 rounds and about 1 round in every clip load would jam.  I could just pull the slide back and it would feed ok.

I talked to one of the range officers and he advised it could be several things.  1) the recoil spring is weak and needs replaced.  2) the ammo is not adequate to eject and load.  I was using 9mm Makarov Red Army Standard 93 gr FMJ or, 3) some other issue that would required a gunsmith to look at it.

The gun was clean with I used it.  I did a search and new recoil springs can be purchased, but they come in different pounds and I have no idea what's in there now.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

Was it the last round in each magazine that failed to fully feed?

This has been reported by others...the solution is to take the magazine apart and clean it.
Some even suggest apply a layer of car wax inside the magazine to make sure that the follower moves freely through the entire mag.

If you have one of the cheap Chinese "cz mfg" knockoff mags, that's the problem. You can identify them by the seam down the back and the marking I noted.

They sell for around $20. They are junk; there are numerous posts about them here. If you want to salvage them be prepared to spend significant time to remanufacture them to spec. Even then, it's a crapshoot.

I always spray my Hornady One Shot, clean and lube aerosol on my mags, it's a dry lube and cleaner that permeates the metal.
