Shadow 2: How do increase the trigger weight?
« on: January 16, 2022, 05:02:50 PM »
My beloved CZ Shadow 2 was disqualified for Front Sight classes for its low trigger weight.  Factory stock the trigger is already well below the 4 lb limit.

I’m hoping one of you experts here can help me. This post is not about the school’s rules.  This is how I can modify my gun.

The gun was done at CGW and used to have a sweet 2 lb trigger, but I want to use it at FS.  I had David install CZC’s 4 lb Duty Hammer and heavy trigger return spring and it did measure 4+ lb when I got it back in March last year.  Here it was with a certified 4lb NRA certified trigger weight back then:

I left the gun alone for months other than the occasional dry fire at home.  Eight months later when I checked it again, the trigger is consistently below 4 lb.

I’ve read that a heavy hammer spring will do it, others say use a Tanfoglio sear spring, yet others say use a heavy trigger return spring.

Suggestion?

I would replace the main spring back to stock.

You can bend the trigger return spring to gain a few more ounces.
If that doesn't work...
I doubt you'll like the price, but the Apex Tactical hammer/sear kit sounds like what you need. It's intended for people that want the DA/SA pull weights to be closer together than the other available CZ aftermarket hammers.
You can try returning to the oem hammer spring, but results will vary since the spring is already compressed when the hammer is cocked. But...your DA pull will go up considerably as well.

You could use a Tanfoglio sear spring.

Or even better, do a double sear spring mod. Will have to open up sear cage to accomodate 2 sear springs. Will gain around 1 lb of trigger weight.
Life is too short to waste on a bad trigger pull

The easiest is to put on the heavier trigger return spring.  I'm not sure how much heavier it will end up?

The tangfolio sear spring will increase it about 1/4lb.

Depending on what main spring is installed,  going back to stock could be what you need add well.

Cheers,
Toby

Just get a hammer spring tuners pack and change until it’s just heavy enough to pass. Simple fix and you can change back easily after the class.
