I have no view on the fall of the CZ 97, except it's a shame when the market is deprived of a functional option, but with today's "microcompact" mania, the CZ 2075 is too bulky, too heavy, and has a magazine capacity that's too small.
In comparison, the SIG Sauer P365, which debuted 14 years after the CZ 2075, has 34% less bulk, 30% less weight, with no decrease in capacity. The cost of these benefits is 46% increase in free recoil.
Today's consumer buys a carry gun for its ease of carry, not for its ability to shoot well. Every review I watched or read on the 2075 praised its ability to shoot surprisingly well. Of course, the 2075 is on the large size of the subcompact range so with its metal frame its recoil is tamer and easier to control. In the hands of most shooters, the "microcompacts" (which are really just high capacity subcompacts) will be spray-and-pray-o-matics relative to the 2075.
