CZ P09 of CZ P10
« on: February 03, 2022, 11:43:15 AM »
Hello,

my name is Hans, i am from Belgium. At the Belgium forums i did not find much information about the CZ P09, so I take the liberty to post my question here.

I am hesitating to buy a CZ P10 or a CZ P09.

I am not a big fan of strikerfired pistols but some say that the triggerpull on the P 10 is better than the one of the CZ P09. And so the accurati.

As i only own 1911 models, the classic hammer of the P09 look to me as an advantage. I will use the gun for some bulls eye shooting and mostly for action shooting.

Can someone give me the advantage of negative items on both guns.

As I live in Belgium we can not use a gun for home defense of for every day carry. We can only own pistols for sports.

Thanks

I would compare p10f and p09
both use the same mag
I would suggest getting both in your hands if possible and shoot them side by side would be better. Both are awesome!

Howdy, Hans & Welcome to the Forum from Texas!

I happen to have both the P09 and P10F, so I pulled both of them out and did a dry fire on each to determine the trigger characteristics.

Both had about the same take-up length, but my P09 broke nicer compared to the P10F.

I too prefer hammer-fired to striker-fired, but I don't think that affected my observation.

It might be that I have shot my P09 many more times than the P10F and its trigger may improve to be comparable after break-in.

I hope this helps you in your decision.

There's member on the forum that shoots his CZ's at 100 to 200 yds. and videos it.  He shoots P09s and P10s (and other CZs).

Here's a link to a couple You Tube videos he made.  To help you with your decision (maybe not as both pistols of his do really well.)

I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Also from Texas and a similar experience. With either choice, I think you will be pleased.

Welcome!

I would say since you are mainly a 1911 shooter, the P09 would fit right in. Install the safety and run it just like a 1911. I am not really into striker guns these days either, except for my carry gun.

Thank you al for the advice.

In Belgium most firearms dealers have a very limited stock. Almost everything you have to order. I didn't find one who had both models in stock.

But after reading the received advices I will go for a P 09, mainly because it's a hammer fired pistol. Only one arms dealer who has one in the shop. As a duty arm I carried a FN GP, Glock 17 and now a S&W MP 9. No issues with all those pistols but I hate the triggers, except for the FN/GP (High Power). Here as an officer we can not chose the pistol we carry.

Mvg,

Hans

Since you like 1911s, consider a steel framed CZ?  Shadow 2, SP01, 75B depending on your budget.

Welcome aboard from the state of New Jersey.
I you do pick a P09, there is a lot of information on how to improve the omega trigger system, and how to convert between decocker and safety based operation. There are many parts here that may not be available outside the USA, but the omega system is quite user friendly, and can benefit a lot by simply polishing a handful of parts.
I found the transition from the 1911 to the P09 and P07 to be very natural, and they have proven to be extremely accurate and dependable !

For sport shooting, I suggest looking at the CZ 75 SP-01.  It's heavier, but you won't be carrying it, and it's increased mass will absorb recoil by 22%.  In addition, the SP-01's conventional trigger can be more refined by gunsmithing than the P-09's omega trigger.  The downside is the SP-01 costs more.

I own a P-10, a P-07 and several Shadows.    If it's for sport, don't bother with the plastic frame guns.    They are just fine, but not optimized for competition.

Now the question is what sport?    For IPSC, it depends on what division you plan to shoot.   There are some divisions, where the rules effectively eliminate steel guns.
Don't mistake my high post count for knowledge or wisdom.   I just like hearing myself type.

Welcome to the forum! You live in a a beautiful country with incredible history, sir.
I think you will be quite happy with the P-09 - it's a tank of a sidearm and very easy to use. The trigger on mine was just fine, above average for a DA/SA system, not fantastic, but pretty darn good.

Thank you all for the advices,

I decided to go for the P09, got the opportunity to shoot with one and I was very pleased with the grip and balance of the pistol. Tigger is good enough, I will use it for a different disciplines as bowling pin shooting, steel shooting, some but not often IPSC, and also bullseye.

For the last discipline I know there are much better, have S&W 1911 pc for it, but it is very satisfying when with a standard pistol I manage to shoot 80 points at 25 meters, as I do with my duty arms (M&P 9 gen, a pistol i do not like because of his NY trigger)
