Hello Hans,

also I am from Belgium. I don't know which region you live in but I believe there are some dealers who should have both the P-09 and the P-10 in stock. I'm thinking about DBS Tactical, Podevijn or VN Wetteren (where I bought my P-09). A phone call to those dealers might be useful.

As for the striker fired vs hammer fired I can only fall back on my experiences with my Walther P88 (hammer fired) vs Walther P99 (striker fired). I loved both guns and it's purely a matter of personal preference. I shot the P88 somewhat better than the P99, but I can not put a finger as why.

Have fun and stay safe!

Dag E.T.26

DBS heeft enkel de P09, Podevijn heeft geen van beide. Bij VN vind ik enkel de kadett uitvoering.

Mvg.

Maybe you can add an English translation for our American friends?  ;)

as asked from ET 26 my translation,

Hello E.T.26

DBS only has the P09, Podevijn has neither. At VN I only find the kadett version.

Best regards.

Just explaining him i could not find a shop where I could compare the rifels

Perhaps this poster from CZUSA may help to convince you...

At the bottom it says "Best Choice".

I prefer my P09 to all of my P10s.

I own a P-10, a P-07 and several Shadows.    If it's for sport, don't bother with the plastic frame guns.    They are just fine, but not optimized for competition.

Now the question is what sport?    For IPSC, it depends on what division you plan to shoot.   There are some divisions, where the rules effectively eliminate steel guns.
Could you elaborate ? how would rules eliminate steel pistols from competition ?
I've never competed but just curious.
The only thing I could think of would be the weight of the pistol.

You and I both wish!

The RESET on my P09 is like on most SA/DA guns...long, but crisp.

I am NOT a "trigger maven" (i.e. I am not in speed contests and I don't want any "hair triggers" on my guns), so I practice with each and learn how to properly be proficient and safe with each and every weapon platform that I own.

I'd much rather shoot my steel guns but when I do reach for the plastic it's almost always the P-09 in either caliber, even ahead of the Phantom.

I think you made a great choice. There is just something great about the P09. I have several steel frame CZ handguns and a few Beretta 92 pistols, including Elite LTT models, and the P09 is still my favorite to shoot. Had a P09 milled for an optic and really loving the set up.

Same here. LTT is smooth as butter but the P09 fits the hand and points so well.

I have both and to be honest, haven’t thought about which is better as the actions are different.  I like and enjoy both very much- either choice would serve you well.

I’ve shot both in IDPA seasons quite successfully. Each has it attributes, so think it really comes down to what action you prefer- striker or DA/SA.

I see you chose P09 & think you’ll be satisfied- it’s a fine gun limited only by the shooter in my opinion.

Please report back with your shooting/ range impressions & good luck!

I'm afraid we will have to be patient as in Belgium it takes about 3 months between the application and the issueing of a gun permit. At least that was my experience, after having applied for a total of 6 different gun permits over the last 20 years ... Very slow administration when it comes to guns  :(
