So whats up?
« on: February 25, 2022, 08:00:27 AM »
Ive not been a member here for bery long, a few years maybe, but cruising through the various type forums, i e compact, 75, 97 etc I see a multitude of threads about gun malfunctions, misfit parts, poor quality, triggers confusion, weird noises and on and on. Whats up? Is CZ QC slipping? Are they outsourcing manufacturing?
Especially in the compact section on the first 3 pages there must be 25 threads about peoples guns jamming, stovepipes etc.
When Im on other forums and the topic of CZs comes up I always tell everyone how stellar CZs are, mine at least, and other than some aesthetics  issue or weight or sights comes up as to why some may not like CZ but never have I had someone who is a shooter say that a CZ has function issues. CZ is known worldwide for a few thinhs, gun that fit the human hand like nothing else and 100% reliability.
Are these many issues some cases of people chaning springs, limp wristing, poor shooting form in general or something else because my little P01 and 97b have been put through it and friends Im here to tell you all that there is very very rarely anything wrong with a CZ. We arent talking about a S&W revolver here. Yes, I love S&Ws.
My CZs are all mid to late teens vintage and the quality of mine is stellar.

Just curious.

I only own one CZ, a Shadow 2 Orange. Had it a bit over a year now. It's been flawless, FWIW. I had not read of any issues with CZ guns, but have to admit I really don't pay attention to gun threads here that are not about the Shadow 2's.

Its just that people post on forums more about issues to see if anyone can help. They stand out I think over other posts. All I can go off of is my expereince. I own many CZ handguns and a Scorpion and all have been great.

Keep in mind that people rarely post a thread that says "hey...my CZ is running great". They usually only post when they have a problem or a question. I would guess that almost all CZ's are running without any problems. You'll see the same bias on any forum dedicated to a specific manufacturer.

My personal two CZs (one of which is a compact P01) have run flawlessly from the day I got them.

I think all manufactures in all industries have had their share of QC challenges while navigating supply chain issues and increased demands for their goods. So maybe there has been an increase in CZ issues.  Or it could be that more CZs were sold in the last year and a half than ever before and while the percentage of QC issues remains the same, the number of people posting about them has increased incrementally.

It's sad to say, but CZ quality definitely ain't what it used to be.

It's sad to say, but CZ quality definitely ain't what it used to be.

I think you can say that about anything at this point.  Try to get quality automotive parts or tools.  I mean it is rare that you don't have to warranty a part (maybe multiple times!).  Things are now just built with a slant toward commodity vs quality.

I haven't purchased a new CZ in a while so I can't comment on any real or perceived shift in quality.  I will say that my CZ's are all smoothed and worked over and shot regularly.  It's rare that I have any gun induced failure that isn't my fault for not cleaning it adequately (read extractor buildup).

If the gun doesn't run, I will fix it.  If I can't fix it then it is royally hosed.  I'd rather have the skill to make it work the way I want it to than be reliant on the manufacturer to produce it that way to begin with.

Cheers,
Toby

98% of the ...Is Something Wrong threads.....are owner induced non issues.

I've never seen so many sitting around thinking up stuff. LOL!!!

This is what I've noticed.

I've purchased 9 CZ's over the past 4 or so years. Only one had an issue and I fixed the part that was out of spec. CZ did send me a replacement part as well.

CZ makes an excellent firearm and I recommend them to everyone!!!  8)

Keep in mind that people rarely post a thread that says "hey...my CZ is running great". They usually only post when they have a problem or a question...

If you were to sit in front of a Toyota dealership, watching the service department traffic, you'd likely conclude that brand is problematic, ignoring the millions of vehicles produced by the same company that are currently running without issue.

Got a pile of CZ pistols in the last 12 years or so.

Two issues - same pistol (UG P01 Omega.)  First problem was every now and then a hollow point would hang up nose first on the feed ramp.  Seemed to have a place in the feed ramp I could feel with a finger nail, but not see.  Polished it and no more issues.  Second issue with the front night sight died on it.  Took 10 days from dropping the slide off at Fed Ex till I got it back in the mail, for CZ USA to replace that front sight.

A lot of people don't seem to understand cleaning, inspecting and lubing a new pistol and it's magazines are important - before you take it to the range.

Some don't seem to realize every now and then a new gun has to go through a break in period before it's reliable.

Some don't realize good ammo can make a gun more reliable and accurate.

And some just don't understand how to properly hold/operate a gun (pistol or rifle.)

Hopefully they get some good advice and follow it and learn to take care of their pistols, shoot them better and be able to use them some day if it becomes necessary.

I know a guy who used to think he never needed to clean his AK47 or 1911 pistol.  I saw both fail at the range for lack of cleaning/lubing.  An application of chain saw bar oil got both running again.  Used to hurt my feelings to see those two guns rusting on the outside (on the inside???).

If you don't take care of your tools they can't take care of you.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Yeah, I’d say CZ’s quality control and customer service has definitely suffered over the past couple of year’s Wuhan Panic-Demic — along with everyone else’s — particularly with regard to the Bren 2. Can’t speak to the pistols or other CZ guns since I haven’t shot any new ones during this time period. Seems that covid is the underlying reason — or just the ready-made excuse — for people in general to do a bleepty job, and that malaise ripples through society as long as we have these perpetual panic-demics, political crises and social unrest.

I agree with Chuck James and I'll add one thing to what he said. Over the last 18 months millions of non gun people have bought firearms that know nothing about how they operate or how to maintain them.

I think it is as some have said, people often post looking for help with problems. Whether it's a matter of quality control, owner misuse or what have you, problems generate a lot of posted discussion.

A bit like the job interview situation but in reverse. Ask someone to tell about themselves and it's all wonderful, happy, positive blither-blather. Rarely do people sit there and say "I'm a terrible person, will make a poor employee, don't ever hire me".

Certain scenarios generate discussion in certain directions.

Some don't realize good ammo can make a gun more reliable and accurate.

I have a gun I bought brand new along with a box of ammo. The thing would not go more than three or four shots without a failure to feed. Cleaned and lubricated it, didn't help. Oh well I thought, I bought a lemon. An expensive piece of junk.

So I bought another box of different ammo. Not one failure to feed, no failures at all. Hey genius, maybe it's ammo related? Maybe I have to experiment to find out what it likes best.

So I bought another six or eight boxes of ammo, all different brands, all I could find on the shelf. Shot every single round, not a single failure.

Never had another problem, except for that first box.
