Switching bullet manufacturer

 I usually load Precision Delta 9mm 124 gr JHP bullets for 9mm but I couldn't pass up a deal on 6,000 RMR 124 gr JHP multi purpose bullets. My neighbors brother came by yesterday and offered to trade me the RMR jhp bullets for 5,000 small primers  and I couldn't say no. I'd appreciate any tips on loading this new to me bullet the guy I traded with wasn't any help he got them for reloading 38 Super and 357 Sig. and never got around to using them.

You have to load it shorter compared to the PD JHP because of the blunt ogive. Do the then plunk and spin test with the barrel you’re going to use it with to determine the reliable OAL.

I suppose you are talking about what they call their "Multipurpose" JHP.... HERE.

If so then yes, the OAL will be a bit shorter than you are possibly expecting. In my P10c they are being loaded around 1.060". But this will not stop them from feeding very good and shooting great ! And of course this insures deeper seating, which improves their performance.

I've been very, very happy with these. I've actually been splitting my orders between Precision Delta and RMR.

 Thanks for your fast reply's and you were both correct the Multi purpose bullets needed to be seated a bit shorter than the PD bullets. The good news is the RMR bullets are very accurate with a mild charge of Sport Pistol and my OAL is more consistent now.

The blunt nose of the RMR product helps the bullet "center" better in most dies. It's really hard for dies to center and align the bullet during seating when the bullet has the narrow ogive shape common to Berry Mfg and other even the PD JHP. The vertical alignment which happens inside the die just before seating is key to reducing variations in OAL and producing good ammunition.

 Last tuesday was my first range day after having a quntuple bypass so I'm not a 100% but I can say that the ammo loaded with the 124 gr jhp RMR bullets was very accurate. Testing was done with my P07 at 10 yards using once fired Federal brass and Fiocchi primers and 3.9 - 4.2 grains of Sport Pistol with a OAL of 1.058".  The rounds loaded with 4.1 gr. seem to be the sweet spot for the P07. I plan on loading some 124 gr jhp PD bullets in the same brass with the same 4.1 gr. this week and see if I can tell any difference in accuracy.

The difference between the RMR and PD JHP V1 is minimal using the same amount of powder. However, the same can’t be said with the Version 2 of the PD JHP. I had tested all three and the RMR is the most accurate with the PD V1 a close second while the PD V2 was a distant third.

If you have Win231, 4.1 Gr is also the sweet spot with these bullets.
