CZ 75 holster, OWB, kydex, everyday use
« on: March 09, 2022, 10:00:17 AM »
It's been almost eight years since I owned a CZ 75. Glad to be back.

My 75 BD is a gunbroker buy that came with two holsters -- a custom kydex job that's yaqui-style (muzzle exposed), and a canted leather number with a Navy medallion on it (I didn't serve). Neither of these holsters would be my go-to choice for any kind of carry, but they're what I have for the moment, so I make do.

Browsing through the old threads, I came on a thread about competition kydex holsters. All well and good. Even tempting! But I thought I'd ask first anyway.

What would you folks recommend for an everyday carry holster in kydex? I'm a 1.5" belt kinda guy, and would like to keep it that way as my other carry setups are on 1.5" belts.

If the competition holsters work fine, I'm happy to go that direction. Thanks kindly in advance!

Check JM Custom Kydex.  Look at their OWB1 and OWB2 holsters.  Excellent quality, great customer service.  Highly rtecommended.

Ahhh, thank you! Checking out their OWB 2. Looks pretty good!

It would help if I had a more firm idea of what I wanted to accomplish with the pistol (and holster). I focused more on the "gotta get it before the mag ban" before I turned to, "Where does this fit in my arsenal?"  ;D

Are there any feelings about Comp-tac holsters for anything beyond competition? I assume they don't resist printing as well, but I'm leaning toward "I won't be carrying this concealed," so reckon that it might not matter.

Competition holsters aren't suited for edc, concealed or open. They are made for a quick draw, and not much else. If you plan to carry openly, you should seriously consider a holster with active retention. Buy a proper tool for the intended application.

Comp-tac makes 2 holsters labeled for the 75 , the paddle and the international. I have both. The paddle is a good P01 holster but a 75 muzzle will stick out. The international is adjustable for different belt widths and also comes with paddle and works on guns with or without a rail. It's a good range holster if you have multiple CZ pistols but only one belt setup, or a oddball CZ like a shadow 1 or a .40 cal. My favorite 75 holster is my Mernickle high rise but that's leather.

I'm partial to my Crossbreed superslide Hybrid.  As a big guy (prior to my stroke - I've lost 50lbs since) I never had a problem concealing a full-size 1911 as I wear a suit or sport coat every day even OWB carry - and they make 'em to fit the 75.  My favorite OWB holster by far.  8)
