I put a lot of time into getting primers last spring/early summer. Getting in line at the local Bass Pro before they opened was the best bet. I never got close to running out, but still wanted to stock up. And I slowly did. I have 4-5 years worth now, given 200-300 rounds fired a week. When the price jumped from $65 per K to $80, I stopped buying. Not sure if it will ever go down (hope so), but I'm willing to wait and see.
The thing that surprises me is that they seem to have become harder to source locally. I figured when they were getting regular shipments at BP, it would continue to improve to the point they'd actually be primers on the shelves almost all the time. Loaded ammo has done that. No shortage of that in common calibers these days. But primers have become more scarce at the LGS's around here. Only one has any, and they want $140 per k. I'm not looking to buy anymore at this point/price, but still look for stock when I hit the stores.
