Need Help
« on: March 12, 2022, 09:59:08 AM »
CZ75d compact slide won’t cycle, hammer won’t cock, live round in chamber. Slide moves freely but is stopped by the hammer being locked in forward position. I can work on my 1911’s but this is my first CZ and I’m kinda lost.

Have you removed the slide/barrel to at least pull the live round?  First thing I'd do.

Slide just barely moved back enough to get the release lever out. Slide is off live round is removed. Hammer functions properly, but I’m really bothered by not knowing what caused this to happen as this is my EDC weapon, much lighter and more convenient than a full size 1911. Thanks for the help, if anyone has ideas on what might have caused this malfunction, I’m open to suggestions.

With the slide off take a photo of the inside of the frame and post it  so that we can see if there is anything wrong with the internals.

Here is a photo of mine for comparison with yours:

I'm confused,  the hammer was frozen but after you field stripped it and removed the round it started working?

The hammer pins, if they drift out of place, they can lock up the hammer.   It has happened to me, you have to stake them to the hammer or purchase cgw pins that are oversized.

Maybe there is something in the action holding up the trigger bar and disconnector?

Maybe the main spring is broken?  Pull the grips off and look at the strut and main spring.

Cheers,
Toby

Check out the ammunition.

When I took my CZ P10M to the range for the first time I had a similar lock-up occur.

It turns out that the ammunition (Summit "factory reloads") had improper overall lengths (9 rounds out of the 50 in the box) and would not go fully into battery.

A too long oal would cause the slide to lock up but the hammer should freely move still.

The OP stated the reverse,  the slide was free but the hammer was locked up.

Toby

If the slide wasn't absolutely 100% all the way forward and the humps on the trigger bar were making enough contact to keep it from moving fully upwards would the back of the trigger bar being "down" keep the hammer from cocking?
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Never did find anything obviously wrong with it, but this morning it did it again, only this time I field stripped it removed the live round and it’s still locked???

Ok, maybe this will help, main spring not broken, trigger bar moves up to proper pos. While I was checking the trigger bar I pushed it down, noticed a good bit more travel in the trigger, let the trigger bar up and released the trigger, heard the click of it resetting now all is fine. As far as I can tell something is causing the trigger to not reset properly sometimes.

You have to host pictures and provide link to them here.  The forum doesn't host pictures internally.  Imgur is free and can host them.  Or if you use tapatalk you can post picture directly from the phone app.

So is the hammer locked up and you are unable to manually cock it?  Does it move at all?

Cheers,
Toby

It does move some ( it is functioning again now but who knows how long). I can push the trigger bar down, pull the trigger back let the bar up, release the trigger and it resets, somehow I don’t think the trigger is resetting properly all the time.

Yeah but when not working, can you manually cock the hammer with your thumb or is the hammer locked up and physically unable to be moved?

Cheers,
Toby
