Steyr Rifles
« on: March 12, 2022, 06:08:10 PM »
I have just come into ownership of a Steyr Forester in 260 Remington. This is the first Steyr of any sort that I have ever owned. It seems well made and I have read plenty about their reputation, just thought I would see if anyone on here had any experience with them?
It's not saving any water if you have to flush it over and over....

Don't own a Forester model, but have had a Steyr Scout in .308 for several years, and love it.  And it has been driven hard in rifle classes at Gunsite.  Never a problem, and very accurate.

I have a Steyr Elite in 308 Win and a Pro Hunter in 300 Win Mag. Both are outstanding rifles. Not much in the way of aftermarket components but shoot well.

I figured that would be the case (aftermarket support) I'm just hoping nothing breaks, as it is a discontinued model. On your pro-hunter did you have to use high rings to get the bolt handle to clear the eyepiece of your optics?

Good to hear. I've been close to buying one several times in the last few years, as a compact, all-around companion to my Tikka TX3 hunting rifle chambered in the same caliber.

I don't remember the ring height to be honest, but it was nothing out of the ordinary. I have a wide angle Redfield 3x9 on it (probably a unicorn scope).

I ordered medium height rings, picking them up today. Guess we shall see.... :o
