Brand New CZ TS2 Green Takedown Question
« on: April 01, 2022, 07:25:40 PM »
So the manual says to takedown to put the hammer in halfcock position align the the lines and pull the slide stop out.   If I put the hammer at half cock and do that I can't align the lines because the slide hits the hammer as its not far enough back.  Is this normal?   If I fully cock the hammer I have no problem at all.  I just think its odd the manual says that and then the hammer prevents the lines from being aligned.

its correct. you'll have to push back just slightly further to align and push out the slide stop.

Thanks for the quick response, one last question.

The box came with a slide stop pin if I wanted to replace the actual default slide stop.  I am just curious the best way to get this pin in and out if you need to take the gun down?  Do you use a punch or piece of plastic to push it in and out?

The tapered end of the pin would get installed from the left side of the gun to the right side, correct?  How about removing it, would you push the pin from the right side of the gun towards the left side to remove it?  I can't find any clear instructions and don't want to booger anything up.

From the way yo described the extra pin, it is like the ones that come with the TSO.

If it is, you are correct in how to install and remove it.

Enjoy.

Mines a brand new Shadow 2. It also has the slide contact the hammer at half cock just before the lines meet. I have a 3 pack of small nylon rods originally purchased for drifting rear sights. I took one of them and using a pencil sharpener made it more pointed then created a slight cup in the tip. I now use this to push the ST pin out easily without marring any of the finish.

I’d post a picture if someone could help me figure out how to do it! Thanks

Thanks seems like a good way to do it.

With a standard slide stop, you used to be able to take a magazine and use the plastic mag base to get the slide stop partially removed, and once there you could grab the slide stop and remove it fully.

The TSO (and assuming the TS2) have aluminum mag bases so you may want to use something else to get it started.  If you are using the slide stop pin (sans the lever) you can't grab it and finish pulling it out once started.  I end up using whatever I have handy but have used a screwdriver, a broken decapping pin, a plastic wishbone (autoglass tool), a retractable pen, etc...  I don't think I've damaged the pin hole or surrounding surface yet but the risk is there.  My guns are run hard and are definitely not safe queens so even if I did it wouldn't bother me.  Someday I may send them off for hard chrome.

Cheers,
Toby

Well I did put a tiny ding and on the poly coat using the aluminum base to push the regular stop out.  I put cloth over it before I do it but it slipped.  I’m going to start using something plastic.

That being said I think I’m going to send this to get hard chromed anyway and cgw pro package.  All my 1911’s are blued or smoked nitride and my walther q5 match is black tennifer and I always wanted a chrome or stainless gun so this might be a perfect time to do it I guess.  I think the hard chrome with the green grips will be stunning.
