ready to buy some more Bullets....Suggestions?
« on: April 04, 2022, 01:20:51 PM »
As I have stated on the forum its been a bit since I have done much with pistol, but I have been reloading 9mm and I'm down to the last couple thousand of the 9mm bullets Xtreme 124gn RN HPCB.

I am asking to see what all you guys may recommend that is affordable and good quality. I am currently leaning towards Blue Bullets. I have tried them in the past and liked them. Any other suggestions?

Anyone know if there is any Bullet manufactures in Arizona? I like supporting Local where possible.

Thanks,

I have and use Bear Creek out of Cali. and Rim Rock out of Montana. They aren't plated but load and shoot very good!

There is a local here in Flagstaff that casts bullets.  His prices weren't too bad last time I checked (pre pandemic).  I haven't shot them but a couple of locals in our club have.  They are typical cast/coated lead bullets.

I've primarily been using Precision Bullets for several years and have been very happy with them. A true stand-up company - reasonably priced and excellent customer service. Shouldn't take long at all for you to get them from Texas.

If you're looking for something other than inexpensive range ammo then RMR or Everglades is the place to go.

I second precision bullets.   They are a swaged coated lead bullet.   My only gripe is the base isn't as uniform as it could be and sometimes they don't sit well on top of the case before seating.   It's a concave base and the swaging process sometimes leaves a lip/point on the base.

Other than that they shoot great and the coating must be slick as they are very efficient with the powder.  With the 170gr, I make power factor near at the same charge as 180gr fmj bullets.

Cheers,
Toby

I was loading with the exact round you mention in your post (Xtreme 124gn RN HPCB).  When I was ready to reorder, I stopped by here and saw that some folks really like the Precision Delta hollow points for accuracy so I decided to try their 124gn JHP V2 (link: https://www.precisiondelta.com/products/9mm-124gr-jhp-v2/).  All their prices include shipping so they ended up being the best deal in terms of price for the quantity I ordered (6k).

I've loaded up a couple hundred and tested them through the 75b omega and the P07 and they perform quite well in terms of accuracy and consistency.  Some folks seem to like the V1 better, claiming that it's easier to seat consistently but I have no experience with them, so I can't speak to that point.

BCB

I shoot 40S&W and thus it's their 170gr RNFP bullet.  I haven't tried their 9mm variants yet.

I've shot both FP and RN 125 9mm from Precision Bullets, and both worked without a hitch. If I remember correctly, Dave at PB sent me the FP to try one time when he was out of the RN (at no charge too!). I liked them so I ordered a couple thousand. I could not detect any performance difference between the two, and the FP loaded and fed fine. I guess I'm just a traditionalist, so I tend to stick with the RN.
No matter where you're going, there you are.

I haven't found a more accurate bullet than the ones from Rocky Mountain Reloading or Precision Delta their jacketed bullets are about the price of many plated or coated bullets.

This.

I reload 124 JHP from both companies and both are very accurate. The only difference is I have to load the RMR shorter than the PD because the ogive/profile of the RMR is more blunt.

Other than that, no problems reloading them.

Everglades Ammo is one of my sources for plated and FMJ bullets.
