In VA I've never failed to take a gun with me when I leave the gun show.

I fill out the paperwork, hand it to the FFL for them to do their part and give them my cell phone number.

The contact the VA State Police (the people/place that do the background checks) and wait for the VASP to notify them it's okay to sell to me.  Then they call me and I make my way back through the show to the table, pay and pick up the gun.

We do need two forms of ID here.  I use my driver's license and my concealed carry permit.

Many years ago, at a sports store, it took three days to get my Colt Series 80.  Some kind of issues with the VASP equipment or methods, or something.  Never happened again.

I imagine different states run their states their way.  Sometimes an "instant" background check isn't so "instant."
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Here in Florida, background checks are done right at the shows. If you have a carry permit, you can then take possession immediately. If not, there is a mandatory three business day waiting period.

I don't live in FL, but own property there. I also have a carry license from NH, which is (or at least was at the time) valid in FL. I don't know if those two things made any difference or not as to how I was treated when purchasing guns at a show.
Background checks were done on the spot in less than 20 minutes each time. Rifles were given to me right away. Pistols had the 3 day waiting period before I could take possession.

As long they come back fast and approved, I have no issues with them. However, when the state delays it and I’m told to come back the next the day, I’ll pay the fee for the background check and walk. I’m not going to waste my time along the price of gas makes it a no go for me. I don’t blame the seller. It’s even worse when its the last day, then I would have to pay a transfer fee. I’m trying to be horse’s rear. I think of better ways to spend my time.

Ohio is instant as well.  CCW trumps NICS check.

All stares are different. Here in Wyoming you fill out a form , they submit , and in about 5min. You walk out with your firearm .if the seller is a dealer . If it’s a private party no check.
