I’ve been looking around here to see if anyone else has gotten their hands on the new Sig 22 pistol but searches have come up empty. Anybody get their hands on one to try or adopt? Anyone have any thoughts?
As soon as I saw the release and the initial reviews (certainly a measure of hype and bias) I was in. Didn’t figure I’d find one at a proper price for a while but then sort of a random search found one in stock at the min allowed price so I jumped on it.
I figured it’d basically be another TX22 with some refinement. And I really like the TX, especially as a very budget friendly gun. The Sig is really nice. I prefer the TX trigger but the Sig is plenty good. The Sig is a bit more accurate for me, which I’d expect with the fixed barrel. The Taurus definitely has some slop to the way the barrel locks in, though it is certainly good enough for what the pistol is.
The mags are fine and after cleaning up a little bit of plastic flash in one both are fully reliable with the limited variety of ammo I’ve had access to. I don’t have mini-mags, just a bunch of bulk stuff. The 20 rd capacity is tight and doesn’t seem to work well with the Uplula, but the load assist tool provided with the gun is very useful and comfortable to use.
The fiber optic sights are plastic but pretty nice. The rear sight is removable for an RMSc footprint with no additional adapter. I’ve been working on mounting a Riton but have been having some difficulty with the screws as the threads are in 3mm but the sight has 4mm holes. I’ve finally found some shouldered screws that I’m hoping will secure it better.
It works nicely suppressed and comes with a threaded adapter. It doesn’t seem to get as filthy as the TX, but I’ll keep trying 😉. Since getting a can the TX has been seeing the lions share of 22 use. It’s an easy one for grandkids to handle and they appreciate how quiet it is. I’m sure they’ll love the Sig, too. They’re still relatively young so the Kadet is probably still pretty big and heavy for them, plus I still don’t have that threaded.
If anyone else has any other info on the 322, or any questions, I’d love to hear about it. I really like the thing and I’m sure others will too, once they become a bit less scarce. Sure seems like another great hi cap, tac style 22 option.
