June 2022 interview - chairman of Colt CZ Group
« on: June 26, 2022, 09:51:15 AM »
An e-translation from the Czech interview is provided via the 5 screenshots here.

Quoted (translation) from the interview-

The most important customer for you is the Czech Army, which has a framework contract with the armory for the supply of rifles and pistols for 2.5 billion crowns. Now, because of the war, she has increased the amount by a billion. Did you have to postpone other orders to satisfy the Czech army?

It is a joy but also a commitment. We have declared to the Czech army, but also to other armed forces, that we will give priority to their demands at the expense of the civilian market, so that the army has its supply on time. It's not easy, because we are sold out long in advance. However, the Czech Army is a key and reference customer for us, it is our home country, and that is why we are willing to do something extra for it.

CZ is not going to be so happy with their decision to stay in Connecticut after their purchase of Colt after CT gets around to suing Colt CZ out of existence for “gun violence.”

I can understand that CZ’s first priority is to service the Czech Army and other NATO militaries in the region since Russia attacked Ukraine, even though the US commercial market makes up 60% of their business. This is all thanks to Pudding Brain surrendering to the Taliban, which encouraged Russia’s invasion. Otherwise, we would have had fixes, service and partsfor our problematic x39 Bren 2s a long time ago.

With the current SCOTUS no one is going to frivolously sue CZ into bankruptcy.  However, CZ should have a contingency plan to move the Colt and Dan Wesson factories to a free state.

I can't blame CZ-UB with being concerned at home - Europe is a powderkeg with a nuclear fuse. The company IS doing the right thing for their people and their military, so, we'll just have to hope they have time to ship some machining over to Colt to build some guns here in the States for us. But doubling production of military products, not raising prices for their own army? Imagine Ford Motor Company telling Patton he could have his tanks, but only for 20% over contract. Gotta pay for speedy delivery, General! Yeah, not gonna happen, anymore than no more than English craftsmen living under The Blitz charged double for Sterling submachine guns.
*sigh* The world as it is today is not the one it was three short years ago.

This article explains a lot about the state of CZ here in the U.S. Not encouraging for us here, but at least some perspective on the situation. He speaks positively about Colt management...that's disturbing.

Thanks for sharing that article, Earl. It certainly helps give the bigger picture, at least as far as CZ is concerned, and it's understandable. But I'm still a little perplexed at why we aren't seeing more output, maybe some new models, etc from Colt and Dan Wesson by this point.

I pretty much have the CZ models I want at this point, and with nothing new on the horizon, I unfotunately don't see any more CZs in my foreseeable future. Other than maybe a 600 Trail, if I can ever find one available.
