On other thought, all you did was dip bulk ammo in bullet lube? Lordy! I used Lapua X-Act in a match recently, hate to think all I had to do was dip thunderbolt in wax! ;)

Yes, I stacked the bulk rounds into discarded 50-round open-bottom plastic organizers. Then I had a puddle of an Alox-type lead bullet lube and was able to dip 50 rounds at a time. I let them sit (in the same organizer) for a day or 2 to dry. That was all.

I recently discovered that I had a brick of really old Tenex - maybe 15/20 years old? (I'd won it and had put it aside for special purposes one day.) The lube had solidified and some of it had cracked and fallen off inside the boxes. Still shot good though.

The lube has a "persistence". Once the barrel is coated it takes very little to maintain the coating. Which is why, when testing multiple brands, you want to fire 5 or 6 rounds into the dirt before you start your comparison testing.

I got a stockpile of Eley Sport about 6 years ago.  My 455 Varmit Evolution shoots it sub-moa at 100 yards and can keep it within 1/3" at 50.  I will literally never need better accuracy than that. When it did that well, I went and bought every box on the shelf. I think I have 1500 rounds of it.  I usually just shoot federal champion or target match ammo from Federal.  Either gives me good results for much cheaper but I saved the good stuff for when I need to make small groups.

Good to hear that others like the TAC-22, my CZ loves it. I have read on other forums where people are insisting it is too dirty.

My 457 MTR Varmint does not like Tac-22 at all. Kimd of meh with Center-X or Midas +. Best consistent groups have been with SK Rifle Match. YMMV

It is my understanding that the fouling rounds form a combustion ring in the chamber which forms an entrance to the rifling in the barrel. This combustion ring guides the head of the bullet into the center of the rifling.

Found some SK Rifle Match at Midway USA, thanks. Somewhat slower muzzle velocity but going to try it.

Yes, true "match .22" is down around 1020 to 1040 fps. You're sure not going to kill any squirrels with it !

Not sure if you are just joking cause the speeds or not. But I have killed literally hundreds of squirrels with CCI Quiet and it's traveling at 710 FPS.

Granted I only do head shots but I see probably 90% clear pass throughs on any shot with it.
