Has anyone put a magwell on a full size DWX that they can post photos of?

I haven't yet, but that's mainly because I can't find a CZ mag well in stock. The Dan Wesson DWX will accept the same CZ mag well  that fits the Tactical Sport models when you can find one.
You can see what it looks like on the DWX in the video below.  If you don't want to watch the entire video, go to the 1:42 spot and you can see the DWX with the TS mag well and a set of black LOK grips.  LOK also has a matching mag well to go along with the LOK Grip Lock grips if you like that style better.

I had been planning to go with either a red or black CZ mag well and the red LOK grips in order to tie in with the stock red DWX trigger but can't find the CZ style mag well. I have to admit that all black look is killer too but if changing out the trigger isn't something that you want to do, the red trigger with an all blacked out DWX would look great too.

I’ve got a Floyds Custom on the way along with some Henning extensions. I’ll post photos when I get it together.

There seems to be more than one opinion on this. Not so much on the actual milling but how to handle the refinishing of the slide after it is milled. Dan Wesson recommended Primary Machine to do the milling on my DWX. I still haven't had mine done and probably won't, at least for now. I've heard of several satisfied customer of Primary Machine. I've also heard of several people who have had a great job done by CZ Custom.

But that's where the difference of opinion comes in. The DWX comes with a very high quality DLC finish, but some machine shops like Primary Machine require that the entire slide be refinished after it is milled. Generally Cerekote is suggested (black nitride is optional)  but Cerekote isn't nearly as good a finish as the original DLC finish. Cerekote is a great finish, but it can show wear marks more than others, plus it stacks up and can add thickness to some tight fitting areas such as around the area where the red dot fits.

CZ Custom says that since the slide is stainless steel, that refinishing the cut area isn't necessary because the stainless won't rust.  They will either leave the cut area of the slide unfinished, or send it out for a black nitride finish.

Stonebridge Gunworks also has a lot of good comments about their work and they also say that refinishing the entire slide is not necessary.

So do your research and take your pick. All three of the shops that I've mentioned have good reputations, but I'm sure that there are others that can do the work too.

I had mine milled by Vulcan Machine Werks.  Normally I'd choose black nitride, but since the slide is stainless and the cut area is pretty much sealed by the optic, I went with Cerakote.
Lok S2 grips, Lok TS magwell, Henning extensions, and turned a custom tungsten guide rod to use traditional 1911 springs.  Opened up the hole in the slide for the fatter guide rod prior to sending it to Vulcan.  The TS magwell fits but when aligned with the mag opening it leaves a small gap at the rear.

Thanks.  I've researched all you mentioned as well as Vulcan but was looking for opinions on work already performed.  Your comment on how to handle the finish is my biggest concern.  Vulcan offers complete refinishing in DLC as an option.  Stonebridge as you mentioned claims you don't need to refinish the slide.  Right now I'm leaning toward Stonebridge to preserve the factory finish and if needed I could always send the slide out in the future for refinishing.

Did you Cerakote the entire slide?  Vulcan has a DLC finish as an option.  What made you choose Cerakote over the DLC option?

from Togmaster:  "I've researched all you mentioned as well as Vulcan but was looking for opinions on work already performed.  Your comment on how to handle the finish is my biggest concern.  Vulcan offers complete refinishing in DLC as an option.  Stonebridge as you mentioned claims you don't need to refinish the slide.  Right now I'm leaning toward Stonebridge to preserve the factory finish and if needed I could always send the slide out in the future for refinishing."

That pretty much describes my situation. The DLC is such a nice finish I would hate to have the slide refinished and have it come out not matching the finish on the frame. The two tone look is OK, but I would prefer that my DWX look original and that means having the slide and the frame match.

I can't remember where I saw it, but a forum member ColoradoNick is sending his DWX out to Stonebridge for milling.  Maybe he will chime in with the results when he gets it back.  I'll be watching for that too.

Is there a mag well that fits the stock grips or will I need to buy shorter grips?  I like the feel and look of the stock grips so I'd like to keep them if I can.

I purchased the aluminum Lok grips and the Armory Craft TSO magwell for my DWX. What type of base plates did you use? P10/ P09/ P07 base plates from Henning?
