Optics milling
« on: September 18, 2022, 04:54:14 PM »
Where do ppl go for optics milling?

I hear Primary Arms is good since you send in your optic and they mill it for an exact fit. But what if I have to replace my optic?

Sure, Primary Machine does good work. Also depends on what gun.  Some companies specialize in a particular model that might be worth looking into.

Jagerwerks for the P10C

Fire 4 Effect for the Shadow 2, SP-01, P-01

I had Cajun Gunworks do my Shadow 2 slide, for an SRO. They did great work and I would use them again.

I got my P-01 milled by Impact Machine.  Terrific job.  It's run by a former CGW guy who wanted to branch off and specialize in optic milling.  https://impactmachinela.com/

There's a new kid on the block that everyone is raving about.  Good, deep cuts with the fastest turnaround time.  Wager Machine.

^i had a fantastic experience with Wager Machine and the three SP01 slides they did for me, great CS, super fast turnaround, and deeper then the cuts I had done for the same optic footprint by a different, more well-known machine shop.

I went with Wager Machine and it came out amazing! Fit my Holosun 507k perfectly and it has lower 1/3 cowitness with stock sights. The turnaround was ultra fast, I sent it last Thursday and I received it the following Thursday. The price is much lower than what others charge ($135). Even if they charged more, it’s still excellent value due to the fast turnaround.

Has anyone tried milling their slide(s) to direct mount either of these Holosun RDS?
Apparently, these have footprints that require special attention.

Thanks!

Scott at Impact Machine -  https://impactmachinela.com/
Looking through his FB and web site,, it appears he does a LOT of CZ firearms.
I thought someone said he was related to CGW some how?

Here is a CZ 75 compact he set a 507K really LOW.

Scott's full name is Scott Milam and he worked at CGW which is owned by David Milam.  So either they're related or it's a heckuva coincidence.

Some sights use the same sized cut and screw spacing as other red dot sights.  For example, my P07 and P09 were milled (by Primary Machine) for the Trijicon RMR sights.  When I had some issues with those I bought Holoson pistol red dots and the fit right in like the slides had been milled for those rather than RMR.

There are different sights Trijicons and different sized Holosons so you need to understand what models would fit/look best on the slide you want milled.

Is your pistol going to be a range gun or a carry gun?  For a range gun it won't matter (meaning you won't be in a situation where it the red dot fails you might not make it home) if the dot fails and you have to send it off for repairs or buy a new one.  For EDC you want a rugged dependable red dot sight.

Good luck with your pistol.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
