CZ 75D Compact "defensive gun tune up ?
« on: September 27, 2022, 10:01:44 PM »
My wife has an ex service CZ 75D Compact.
It appears well broken in with no grittiness in the trigger.
as far as we know, it is stock.
as it is : DA = 10lb, SA = 3.75 - 4.0 lb .. pull was measure from the center of the very curved OEM trigger.

We want a "straighter" trigger and the flat top hammer.
I don't think I want the SA trigger any lighter,, but would like to see the DA down to 7-8 lb
Also would not mind loosing some of the take-up on the SA before hitting the wall.

So what would I piece together to achieve our goal ?

Get an original 85c trigger,  a type 2 disconnector,  an ultra lite kit,  and a cgw race hammer.   You might as well buy the defensive carry kit cgw sells.

If you call cgw and tell him what your after he can build the kit you need.

Cheers,
Toby

Used (not a bad thing, you just don't know the round count or maintenance conditions/schedule) pistol tune up?

I'd also want to replace the recoil spring, the firing pin retaining pin, pull the grips off and make sure of the cleanliness under them and make sure there was no corrosion.

Not sure how many of the springs they kits recommended above might contain.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I emailed CGW with what I was after,
They suggested the "Pro Kit",,,  I'm was thinking that is a little past where I wanted to go with this gun.

OK so you can't have a race hammer and not expect the SA trigger pull to go down.  So either you accept the reduction in trigger pull or eliminate the "Flat top" hammer (assume you mean race hammer).  If you go the route of getting a race hammer, then you need to also purchase the adjustable sear to ensure proper safety operation.  Both of these along with the parts below would put you very near the "Pro package" from cost stand point and you are better off just getting that instead of piecing it together.

If you don't want to go all out and can live with the stock hammer (and associated creep), then the following parts will get you where you mostly want to be:

Get the original 85C trigger with pre and over travel screws to get a "Flatter" trigger or get their new flat trigger:  https://cajungunworks.com/product/flat-da-sa-trigger/

To eliminate SA pretravel you need a disconnector, and to get a disconnector you need the short reset kit.  This will also lower the DA trigger pull down to the 7-8 lb range.

https://cajungunworks.com/product/1485t2-disconector/

You should also purchase their floating trigger pin:

You can thank me later by purchasing an extra L spring:

That about covers it.  Hope this helps.

Toby,
Thanks for the in depth reply.

I will have to live with the stock hammer, as they are out of stock on new sears.
The SA trigger pull is "acceptable" , only wanted the race hammer for the flat top,, the stock round is harder to manipulate.

I will probobly drop the idea of reducing the take up also, and concentrate on a "old style trigger" and short reset kit,, along with some of the other things you listed.

Many thanks
Nick

The 75 D is a decocker, so they don't need a new sear, the adjustable sear is for safety models only.

Have a PCR that has about 7lb DA and 3 SA with CGW defensive package minus the hammer.

I had CGW install the Armory Craft flat trigger on my 97BD and am having them install the same on my 75D PCR at this time.  I think those triggers are great and I much prefer to a more curved trigger.
