SAR 2000 slide swap?
« on: September 28, 2022, 05:43:02 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has ran a cm9 slide on a SAR 2000 . I figured since same company that it should swap as long as you have the whole thing slide barrel and recoil assembly. I have seen a guy post on Facebook where he swapped the slides between the cm9 and b6c, but he never ran them to see if the shoot fine. I was thinking with the cm9 slide on the sar 2000 would be a good steel frame carry gun since I have my cm9 is already cut for a Holosun 407k.

Interesting question!  ???   Btw, Welcome to the Forum!  :)  Be sure to post in the Forum Welcome Page.

I've swapped the Upper Assemblies between my SAR B6P and SAR K2P.  They both shot and functioned flawlessly.
Not a real stretch to figure that would work, as they are both Polymer Framed Pistols.

However, you are proposing mixing the Upper Assembly of a Polymer Framed Pistol onto a Steel Frame.
Trouble is, the Slide Rails of the Polymer Framed Pistols are slightly smaller and you would have to do some machine work to get them to mate with a Steel Frame.
Not worth it!

So the short answer is that is a "No Go".

SAR B6P and K2P Upper Assembly Swap

Another aspect to this is, lets say you get a Steel Frame milled to accept the Polymer Framed Upper Assembly, and it functions well.
The resulting Pistol will be quite a bit heavier than your current CM9.  You may not like lugging that extra weight around, all day.

Thank you I didn’t realize that the steel frame slide rails were different size than the poly guns .

Very Nice SAR CM9 with the Holosun Reflex Sight, you have there!  8)  :)
Congratulations and may it serve you well!  :)

I have thought about getting a SAR CM9, but I've yet to find a good deal on one.
They also seem to be a bit scarce these days.

There is a Pistol, very similar in concept to what you had in mind, and if you can find one, does make for a very good carry Pistol.
RIA was importing a Tanfoglio based Pistol known as the RIA/Tanfoglio MAP1 MS. The MS stands for Mid-Size.
I happen to have one and have occasionally carried it.

RIA/Tanfoglio MAP1 MS

Unfortunately, Importation of the Steel Framed MAP1 series Pistols is very very spotty, but they do occasionally show up.
So much so, they are no longer listed on the RIA website.  RIA does however, keep regular importation of the Polymer Framed versions, the MAPP1 series.

It should also be noted that my RIA/Tanfoglio MAP1 Pistols were not fully operational, out of the Box, as they should have been.
The Magazines were trash and were replaced by Mec-Gar Cz75B 17 round Magazines.
The Extractor Springs were weak and were replaced by Wolff Extra Power Cz75 Extractor Springs, trimmed by one coil, to fit.
Both of my RIA/Tanfoglio Pistols are now Defense-Reliable, and suitable for serious work.
Fortunately, I've done my share of Gunsmithing and know how to fix things, but I can't recommend these Pistols to the average person.

I have both CM9 Gen2 and 2000 Mega. I remember that it is possible to swap slide and frame but only one way (Slide A and Frame B, but not Slide B and Frame A).
I don't remember which combination worked. I suspect that's because barrel profile around slide lock hole is different (round barrel for 2000 Mega and square for CM9).

Disclaimer. I haven't shoot with swapped slide and I don't recommend it.

Nice to see that you put Holosun on your CM9, cause I personally don't like their rear sights, looks very flimsy to me.
I prefer "combat sights" on 2000 Mega.

Yes, the factory rear site on the CM9 Gen2 is cheap.

It might be possible to swap the SAR 2000 Slide onto the CM9 Frame, as the larger rails on the slide would mate onto the smaller Rails of the CM9 Frame.
Problem is, the fit would be a bit loose for the SAR 2000 Slide, but maybe within acceptable limits.
Unfortunately, that is not the combination, the Original Poster wanted.

And I hope that some day, you will find one!   :)

Other than the one, that I have!  ;)

This idea was one of my I wonder if this would work as I have been looking at the sar 2000 and thought it might be close in form if it did work to a Cz SP-01 .

Yeah at first I wasn’t to big on the factory rear sights but was going to just deal with them . Then I shot my friends PDP with a red dot and was like well I guess I need a red dot . So I had my local guy cut it . He did cut a the slide at the same angle as the barrel sits in the slide so I would have full adjustability .

It is actually possible to put CM9 slide on 2000 Mega frame, but you have to use 2000 Mega slide lock. (CM9 slide lock is not compatible).

And this

P.S. I probably tried to put Tanfoglio 22lr conversion on CM9 2Gen2  frame and that didn't work.

Was wondering something similar: would a K12 slide fit a 2000? I ask because it'd probably be the most cost effective way of finding target sights for a 2000. Also my 2000 is a bit loose in terms of slide to frame fit and I bought it new, so I'm probably going to replace my slide one way or the other.
