CZ SP-01 – Tactical/Decocker
« on: October 01, 2022, 12:11:27 PM »
Hello,
Has anyone purchased this pistol as it comes from cgw? Very interested in getting one. I see in the description of this firearm that it does not list the pro package. Looking for recommendations? Should I add the pro package to the build? Thanks for the help.

The pro package in a sp01 tatical makes the trigger so much better .get it you won’t be disappointed.
No creep, smooth clean break. Short reset awesome!

If you are going to get the SP01 direct from CGW, you might as well go for it and get it with the Pro Package. Doing this will be much easier than deciding you want it later and having to send it back to them. I have an SP01 Tac with the pro package and it is a really nice trigger.

Thanks for the advice. One more question. Any advise on the sights? I prefer a all black rear sight. I see the EZD940 on cgw. Anyone have these sights?

I have the CGW EZD 940 sights.  I like them a lot.  The rear sight has a wide notch, you will see a lot of light between the front sight post.  The only thing i don't like is the setscrew in the rear of the sight, it will mark up the rear of the slide. It is needed because of the over hang.  Also, it makes it harder to cock the round hammers by hand.

I see that Dawson has a set of Precision CZ SP-01 Tactical Competition Fixed sights that appear to be like the EZD940 without the rear set screw. Anyone use these? Also, has anyone just stuck with the stock sights? You wouldn’t think getting some sights would be such an ordeal.  :)

I purchased an SP-01 Tactical from CGW and had an existing SP-01 "Cajunized" locally.  Both have the Pro-Package (older trigger) and their barrel bushing.  The pistols are much nicer pistols to shoot.  My practice is to get both the Pro-Package and their barrel bushing.  In practicing, I found the Cajunized pistols to shoot noticeably better than the stock Shadow 2.  (This improvement was a nice but unexpected surprise.)

I highly recommend the Truglo Tritium Pro Night sights with the Orange front sight  TG231Z1C [$96], they have plenty of "gap" with their U notch. You won't be disappointed! I believe they make the same configuration with fiber optic sights as well. Works great on my PCR, 75B and SP-01, once you experience these sights, you will never want to use a different one on any of your CZ's, the accuracy and user friendliness is phenomenal.

I had a set of the EZs on a CZ-75BD. I switched them out for a Dawson Adjustable rear and taller front sight. I've also used Dawson fixed sets (unless they changed the design recently, I'm pretty certain they too have rear set screws) and a couple different combinations from CZC. My preference leans towards CZC. The stock sights are usable, but I've noticed with the factory sights, the tritium seems to be a lot dimmer than the competition. Night sights are another discussion though.

I can post some pictures tomorrow of several sight combos if you'd find that helpful.

Hey OP, here you go:

CZC U-Notch rear/FO front

CZC HTAC rear/FO front

Dawson Precision black rear/FO front

The CGW EZ is going to be fully serrated like the CZCs with the squared off profile of the Dawsons. Unfortunately, I don't have a set of those accessible to show you. Hope that helps.
